“Yes.” I smiled politely. When I looked over at Jahrein that time he was biting his bottom lip. I knew what that meant. He was seconds from going off.

Men continued to approach me for the next thirty minutes, until Jahrein walked over.

“Who told you to wear that?” he whispered.

“This is what Maria got for me.”

“Why didn’t you tell Maria that you didn’t want to wear this?” he gritted.

“Oh come on, Jahrein, don’t start this now.” I whined.

“Man, I aint trying to hear that shit. You got all these niggas looking at you. That aint a good look.”

“Why? I look bad?” I asked looking down at my body.

He chuckled as he grabbed me by my waist. “You got jokes. I just don’t want you blending in with the rest of these high priced hoes. I sat over there and watched damn near every nigga out here break their necks to get a glimpse of this ass.” He said as he palmed my butt and made it jiggle. “But it’s all mine. And you need to cover it up.” He kissed me softly making me melt in his arms. “Thank you so much, baby. It feels good knowing that I can really count on you.”

“You’re welcome.” I smiled, as I wrapped my arms around his neck. Truthfully. I loved that nigga to no end, and there wasn't anything in the world I wouldn't do for him.

That night we slept at Diego’s mansion. He had us set up in the guest’s house that was nicer than any house I’d ever been to. We had all that space to ourselves so Ifelt free to cook Jahrein breakfast in my panties and bra the next morning.

I was dancing to a song in my head when I heard someone clear their throat. “Ah um.”

I damn near jumped out my skin before I turned around. “Oh, Diego I didn’t know that you were in here.” I held my chest.

His eyes freely roamed my body. “I didn’t mean to startle you. Where’s Jahrein, mami?”

“I’m right here,” Jahrein announced, coming from the bedroom. He walked to the kitchen area and looked at us strangely. “Raven, go get dressed.” He told me with a scowl on his face.

I scurried to the bedroom as his eyes burned a hole in my back. Since I left the door open I could still hear them talking.

“That’s a sweet piece of ass you have right there.” Diego commented. “Are all your bitches back in Houston as fine as her?”

It took Jahrein a few seconds to respond. “No disrespect Diego, but Raven is my woman. She is the mother of my kids and I’m the only man that has ever touched her. She is off limits to you and any other man.”

“Oh, I didn’t know the circumstances between you two. No disrespect, Jahrein, honestly. Forgive me, I’m a man first and I can’t deny her beauty. You really got yourself something there. And if she wasn’t yours to claim you’d have yourself some stiff competition. That’s the kind of woman you want on your side when you make it to the top. It’s something about her that separates her from all the rest. Have you ever heard of a rare gem?”

“Yeah.”

“Well, there are people willing to travel all around the world and climb the highest mountain top to find a gem. What you have doesn’t come around every day. If I were you I’d marry her quick and fill her belly with baby after baby.”

Diego must have been inside of Jahrein’s head on that baby issue but the marriage thing I wasn’t so sure.

“I know what I got.” Jahrein told Diego with too much confidence.

Diego let out a light chuckle. “That’s the mistake that most men make. When you have a woman that beautiful you can never get comfortable. Or else some other man will step in where you fall short Jahrein, remember that.”

Chapter 9

(Numb Numb/Juvenile)

“I used to do it too, but I had to let it go. I can’t get loaded. I’m lil woddie that supply the coke.”

“Lazy, is that all you do?”

I sat up on the couch and glanced at Jahrein. It was the middle of the day, and I was relaxing. The kids were in daycare, and I was taking full advantage of the peace and quiet.
