I take a shot in the dark and whisper in her ear, “I miss you when you’re not with me.”

Liv doesn't verbally respond. She just hugs me a little tighter, burying her face in my neck. She’s hiding. From what, I’m not sure. From me? Her feelings? Maybe hiding her rejection?

“I have a proposition for you.” I steel all my nerves.

“That’s scary.” Her response is dry.

“I’m being serious.” I urge her to look at me. “I want to be with you. Even if it’s just while we’re here. In Vegas. Just give me the next four days. And after it’s all over” — and I hopefully survive — “you can go. No strings. No objections. No arguments.”

Liv bats her big hazel eyes at me, clearly stunned from my proposition. The idea kind of took me by surprise, too. But I want Liv however I can have her, and this seemed like a good short-term solution. I’m hoping some real, honest-to-goodness time together will help her see me. Help her see the man I am when I’m with her. The man I want to be.

She scans my bruised face with an anguished expression on her own. Have the last forty-eight hours been just as miserable for her as they were for me? Or does she just feel sorry for me? I wish I could read her mind, but I just have to hold my breath and wait for an answer. The song has ended. The music stopped, but we are still in the same spot, trapped together, unwilling to part.

“Four days?” she considers.

“An indecent proposal.” I slide my hands down to her ass and grip both of her juicy cheeks. She’s wearing a skin-tight pair of jeans that hug every curve of her bottom. The force of my hold mashes together our lower bodies, giving Liv an up-close and personal feel of my growing need, and want, and desire. A small, titillating moan escapes her mouth as she’s swept away in the moment.

“Heaven help me. I accept.” She falls to pieces right in my arms.

“I thought that was going to take more convincing.”

“Consider all your efforts over the last week and a half counting toward my decision.”

“Oh, yeah?” My pride swells. “Good to know it wasn’t all for nothing.” I drop a kiss on her lips, and then another. I add one more just for good luck. And maybe because I just love kissing her.

“So, are we done wasting time down here? I’m ready to go to bed.” Erase the boundaries, and Liv is a livewire.

“Not yet.”

“You’re gonna make me wait?” She’s equally pouty and surprised.

“A little bit longer, yeah. I gotta put my time in first.”

“And how much time are we talking?” Liv is provocatively close.

“I’m not sure. A few hours, maybe?”

“That seems like an impossibly long time.”

“Itisan impossibly long time,” I agree, my balls aching like a motherfucker. I’ve been fighting for Liv’s attention for so long, I’ve reverted back to a goddamn horny teenager.

“Well, I guess I’ll just have to wait for you, then. Alone,” she sighs, “naked . . . and wet.”

“Wet?” I swallow hard.

“Very wet,” she taunts. “And very lonely. I don’t know what I’ll do with myself.”

“Not a fucking thing till I get there.”

“I can’t make any promises.” With that, she slides out of my arms. “See you later, heartbreaker.”

“You can count on it.” I watch her saunter over to Kira to say goodbye. She shoots me a little flirty look over her shoulder before she disappears out of the bar.

I’m cemented in place, trying to figure out how my luck changed so drastically over the span of a three-minute song.

“You got it fucking bad, bro,” Fender harasses me.

“Shut the fuck up.” I punch him in the arm, right before I’m piled on by Hawk, Ky, and Gambit.
