Harley didn’t seem too shocked at the sight of my guardian angel, but I guessed from someone who regularly worked with demons and controlled hellhounds, a lion with wings wasn’t a biggie. She did look slightly strained, and I wondered if cutting off that netting had cost her.

“Dash, go!” I told him.

He was watching Harley. “You okay?” he asked her.

My gaze flicked again to my sister, to look more closely. Her brows were pinched and sweat beaded her forehead. She glared at him and gritted her teeth. “Go.”

He sighed, pulling his hood up and running through. She followed behind him. Skye and Aurum were last, and I was seconds behind them. Once I crossed into Tartarus, the portal collapsed, closing us in.

Harley was breathing heavily, and her hand shook as she raised her talisman to coat the portal in green magic, preventing Apollyon from knowing where we went. I was grateful she knew all of these high-level spells to keep Apollyon from coming after us.

Once she was done, she grabbed her temples.

“Harley, are you okay?” I asked her, stepping forward.

She waved me off. “Just a headache.”

“You shouldn’t be doing this much magic so soon,” Dash lashed out at her.

She glared at him. “I can take care of myself.”

“Skye!” Drea sobbed and ran forward.

“OhMyGosh, Skye!” Marlow dropped everything in her hands and beelined it for Skye as well.

I spun and followed their gaze.

Holy crap, they could see her! It must be some magic of this realm. It was a realm for the dead, and Skye was dead, so it made sense.

Drea tried to hug Skye, which was just sad because she ran right through her, but they didn’t seem to mind; they both just busted up laughing. Marlow was next, giving her an air hug and then grinning ear to ear.

“Were they friends?” Harley asked, massaging her temples.

I nodded. “Best of friends.”

Jacob and Dash jogged over to Skye as well and they all spoke in an animated conversation that quickly delved into how many angels Skye was dating.

Aurum padded over to Harley and me.

“Hello, Harley,” Aurum greeted her.

She gave him a little nod and he frowned. “Touch my wing. I can’t have you injured for training.”

Touch my wing?I didn’t know Aurum had healing properties in his wings, but I was only mildly surprised. The dude was a super-being after all.

Harley’s brows drew together in a knot. “I’m not injured.”

Aurum looked annoyed with her already, and it kind of made me want to smile, but I didn’t think Harley would appreciate that.

“You still have a slight hemorrhage in your brain. I can see it. Touch my wing and let’s get to work.”

Aurum was a punctual fellow. He didn’t like to waste time.

Harley crossed her arms and stared him down. “What, do you have x-ray vision? You can see my—”

“Harley, touch his wing!” I snapped.

“Fine,” she growled.
