“Boo,” Liv called behind me and I spun, laughing. Luka stood next to her, watching me with an adoring gaze.

“I smelled you coming from a mile away,” I told her. “You’ll never be able to scare me again.”

She rolled her eyes. “Whatever. I got you guys a joint gift. Not a million-dollar tiara, but still cool.”

She handed Luka and I a piece of paper and I raised one eyebrow in anticipation. Was it skydiving lessons, because I would totally do that now that I knew I couldn’t die. Luka flipped open the page and I scanned it over his shoulder, unsure what I was seeing. It looked like Liv had some medical tests done or something.

She grabbed her belly. “My baby maker is fully functional, and the werewolf doc says I should be able to carry a baby for you … ya know, if and when you want. I know the council is bugging you for an heir, and you’ve always wanted to be a mom but—”

“Liv!” My throat tightened with emotion at her priceless gift. I crashed into her with a hug.

“Are you … sure you wouldn’t mind?” Luka’s throat cracked; he seemed overwhelmed with the offer.

Liv knew how badly I wanted to be a mom, and the vampire council wasn’t exactly waiting long for Luka to produce an heir. With my eggs frozen and Luka’s sperm…

“I don’t know what to say.” I squeezed her harder.

“Too hard,” she yelped, and I relaxed my hold as we both burst out laughing.

When I pulled back, she was grinning. “My present was better than the tiara, huh?”

I chuckled. “A hundred times better.”

Vasquez stepped up beside Liv and held out his hand. “Dance with me?”

She looked at me and I shrugged.

“She already promised me a dance.” Talon, Luka’s troll best friend, stepped out of nowhere and extended his hand. Liv looked surprised for a second, like she’d done no such thing, but then grinned and took Talon’s outstretched fingers.

Vasquez frowned and then walked off, sulking. I might actually feel bad for him if he hadn’t cheated on her.

“Dance?” Luka pulled me into his arms as the band played a romantic slow tune. I took his hand and let him twirl me around the open space until the food was served.

Our guests that actually ate food started in on their dinner, while Luka and I sat at a table and listened to speeches by Liv and Sawyer. They were horribly embarrassing and hilarious, everything a best man and maid of honor speech should be.

As the night pressed on and we danced and visited with everyone, I leaned in and whispered in Luka’s ear.

“I’m ready for bed.” My words were innocent, but my hand on his inner thigh wasn’t.

“Me too.” Luka stood so abruptly the table moved six inches. I burst out into laughter and he scooped me up into his arms.

“My bride is tired! Thank you all for coming!” Luka shouted, and everyone raised their glasses in a cheer. Then, with vampire speed, he rushed us out of the reception and through the castle grounds, until seconds later we were in our room.

I couldn’t stop grinning. “Someone’s eager.”

“Woman, you have no idea,” he growled, and started to unzip my dress while he peppered my neck with kisses.

I was slightly nervous, but not enough to stop me from unbuttoning his pants and letting them fall to the floor. My dress dropped around me, and then I was just standing there in a white thong and no bra.

“Dammit, you’re perfect,” Luka growled, as he took me in from head to toe.

“And you’re too clothed.” I eyed his tuxedo jacket and button-down shirt. Stepping out and over my giant dress, I slowly unbuttoned his shirt. Leaning forward, I planted a kiss to his lips and sucked his bottom lip into my mouth. When the moan ripped from his throat, pure need opened up inside of me.

“I’m ready,” I huffed against his mouth as I ripped the last remaining buttons off and he was naked before me.

“Are you sure?” He pulled back and looked at me with glowing yellow eyes.

I nodded, stepping out of my panties.
