I frowned, jealously spiking through me. “You drank from my best friend!”
Luka paled. “It was an emergency situation, until I could get the bottled blood.”
Bastard. These emotions were too intense. I didn’t feel like myself. “From now on, you only drink from wrinkly old ladies or bottles!” I snarled.
He chuckled. “Deal.”
“I’m sorry I’m being crazy. I don’t feel like myself…” I admitted.
He nodded. “The hormones, cell repair, it’s all doing its thing. You will feel better in a few weeks, I promise.”
‘How can I still hear you in my head?’I asked.
“Well, besides the fact that I’m your sire and you my fledgling, I’m your king. I have a mental connection to all of my vampires, though not as strong.”
Whoa. Like an alpha werewolf. That was kinda cool.
I snuggled into his side and he wrapped his arm around me.
“Luka?”
“Yes, my love?”
“I’m going to wake up tomorrow and still want to kill Maz and Morgana. I hope you know that.”
His body stiffened next to me, but he wisely said nothing. I could rip the head off a bear right now and he knew it. Best to keep his mouth shut.
Chapter Two
“Holy hotness!”Demi squealed as Sage’s mouth hit the floor.
Luka and I had gotten back from our run about an hour ago and I’d made Liv tell my mom, Maple, Demi, and Sage what had happened because I was too chicken. I still hadn’t seen my mom and Maple, but Sage and Demi insisted on checking in on me. We were in Luka’s quarters in the castle, which encompassed two large master bedrooms, a sitting room, a kitchen, and an indoor hot tub gazebo. I sat on the couch of the sitting room. Demi and Sage were frozen in the doorway.
“You’re like a porcelain doll!” Sage breathed, stepping closer.
I chuckled. “Hey.”
Demi’s face fell as she approached me. “I’m so sorry. I know you didn’t want this, but I’m so glad you’re still with us.”
She crossed the room quickly and sat next to me, pulling me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her back and taking care to not squeeze, but instead lightly rested my arms on her back. I knew she was a werewolf, but I didn’t want to break the ribs of the alpha.
“Thanks. It’s been emotional,” I admitted.
Demi nodded. “And which bitch do we need to kill for doing this to you?”
Luka coughed from his place by the window. “We will table any retaliation plans until Aspen is feeling herself again.”
Sage rolled her eyes at him. “You’re no fun.”
“Was it Morgana?” Demi asked in a low whisper.
“I’m a vampire, I can hear you,” Luka muttered.
“Yep. And she’s mine!” I growled, and slammed my fist into the coffee table, which splintered and broke in half.
Oops.
Demi looked unfazed by my rage, nodding. “We will help you find her when the time comes.”
