I pulled my hands out of the dome, grateful that I’d been able to help. Stronger together.
Cronus leaned down, picked up two pieces, and absorbed them into his body like a toxic skin cream. Hyperion did the same, the dome of protection fading.
I held my breath, watching them both closely.
Cronus was breathing heavily, his face wreathed in agony.
Hyperion made a pained sound and my heart almost burst out of my chest.
“Hype?” Theia stepped forward.
Dark veins crawled along their skin. There was no sign that this was going well.
“Give them time,” Rhea said, and I wanted to throat punch her, but refrained.
Minutes ticked by, and just when I was about to step full-time into my mental breakdown, the darkness faded from their veins and Cronus raised his head, eyes open.
When he looked at me, I prepared myself to see Death looking back, but it was just my man, those cobalt blue and gold eyes clear and bright. He opened his arms and I ran into them. Thankfully, he got the ring off and back into its box before it touched me.
I looked up at him. “Do you feel okay?”
He nodded. “A little broken, but Death is bound and gagged and won’t be coming out ever again.”
“Me too,” Hyperion said, and his eyes looked normal as well. “The sins are gone. Forever.”
I wanted to point out that they weren’t really gone, and if the Titans couldn’t keep them at bay they could always escape, but I thought better of it.
“Let’s celebrate!” I shouted.
One large glass of ice water coming right up.
Cronus shook his head. “I need to kill Zeus.”
I pressed my palm on his chest. “One night. One celebration. Then tomorrow we kill Zeus and live happily ever after.”
He looked down at me, features softening. “Fine. One night.”
Koios grinned. “I know just the place. Follow me.”
Chapter 17
Ibiza. I wasn't sure in our travels if we'd ever been to Spain, but I knew for sure I'd never been to this Spanish island. I had no idea how Koios even knew it existed, but the boy had connections, that was for sure.
We had the full and exclusive use of a gorgeous beach party venue, with a pool, white lounge chairs, cocktails—virgin for me of course—and beats that could be heard all the way down the white sand beaches.
The Santa Eulalia area was absolutely stunning, and I was almost certain that next to Bali and Hawaii, this was my new favorite place in the world. I was clearly a sucker for island living.
“You okay, love?” Cronus asked, dropping another platter of fresh fruit in front of me. Before I could even reply, he slipped onto the other end of the daybed, his bulk almost sending me flying as he lifted my bare feet into his lap.
From there he proceeded to give me the best foot rub I'd ever had in my life, and I groaned. “You changed everything for me,” I told him honestly, remembering my days at the Crab Shack. “I'm scared to blink right now, because if I do it might all disappear.”
He stared at me, this unreadable sort of stare, but it was nice to feel his eyes on me in that way. “It will never disappear. I promise you, Mais. You can blink.”
It was reassuring … this was the Titan of time, a literal god among men, so when he said this life wouldn’t go away, I was going to believe him.
“Bring on the next sixty or so years before old age gets me,” I said with a snort of laughter. I ended up laughing alone as he shook his head at me.
“Speaking of, I have a surprise for you,” he said.
