“Kai,you can’t blame yourself.”

“Aurora,I’m an old wolf. I’ve been around a long time. What have I been doing? Roamingpacks looking to be Alpha for my own selfish gain, while vampires are druggingup humans against their will! Our job is to protect humans. We’ve grown soft!”The steering wheel creaked under his grasp.

Itried to interject, but he continued.

“It’ssick! It’s got to stop. This was about you before but now it’s about everyone.Layla and her human drugging clan are going to be wiped off the face of thisearth.” He clenched the steering wheel, his knuckles white.

Partof me agreed. The Devi? But part of me felt like if Alek could be helped maybesome of them could too. I kept my mouth shut. My mate needed support. Isqueezed his hand.

“I’mwith you Kai. I’m with you.”

HotSprings

Ihad fallen asleep in the car. I awoke to Kai unbuckling my seat belt andpicking me up. It was dark out and we had reached home.

“Youknow what I think is so cute?” Kai whispered in my ear as I clung to him.

“Hmm?”I was awake but still sleepy.

“Thateven though you’re a werewolf who’s very hard to kill, you still wear aseatbelt.”

Ilaughed deeply.

“Ilove you, Kai. I can’t wait to be your wife.”

Kai’seyes rested on my lips. “I wish you weren’t so sleepy, I wanted to take you fora run and show you someplace special.”

Ikissed him deeply and gave him a smoldering look. “I’m awake now.”

Hesmirked. “There is a place I have been meaning to take you. Are you up for ahalf hour run to get there?”

Ileapt off of him and began undressing in response. He watched me fully undressand shift before he shifted and followed me into the forest.

Aswe were running, I let him take the lead. He was taking me down a path I didn’trecognize. After about a half hour, he slowed and we came upon a series ofwooden sheds.

‘Whatis this place?’I asked him. As we padded closer, I saw large wooden tubs. Some of them were huge and others were just hollowed out tree trunks. They werefilled with steaming hot water.

‘Welcometo Bagby Hot Springs.’He walkedinside one of the wooden sheds. Two walls were missing, making it open to thelush, green forest. The air was crisp and cold and steam rose up out of thelarge hot tub. I shifted into my human form, as did Kai. He leapt into the tuband I followed.

“Whoa!It’s hot,” I exclaimed.

Kailaughed and pulled me next to him.

“MotherNature’s bubble bath.”

“Thisis one of your last nights as an unmarried man. Don’t you want to be at a baror a strip club with Max and the boys?” I teased.

Hepulled me up onto his lap. “I want to be right where I am.” He kissed me.

Iknew that marrying Kai was the best decision of my life.

The next morning, I came out to the kitchen to find Kai and Sylviatalking in hushed voices.

“Giveit to me straight. I know witches have knowledge on the vampires. How many ofthem are there?” Kai was questioning her.

Sylviawrung her hands nervously.
