He tucks himself away, and I watch longingly. That was over way too fast. It wasn’t enough. It took the edge off, but I need more.
I look up and catch mirth dancing in his eyes. Nerves rattle my insides, and it must show on my face because his smile fades.
“So, what happens now?” I ask hesitantly. “Was this another one-time thing? A slip-up?”
His amusement shifts into something soft. “Not a slip-up, Shane. It’s never been a mistake. You’ve never been a mistake.” He scrubs a hand down his face. “I…I can’t stay away from you,” he says hoarsely.
My chest puffs out, and he rolls his eyes.
“Calm down, puppy,” he says.
But nope. I pounce on him. He admitted he can’t resist me, and I’m basking in that fact.
His deep chuckle swirls around us. “Down, boy,” he jokes. So I lick his cheek, and he dissolves into laughter. “My God,” he says between gasps. “You really are like a dog.”
I pull back and grin at him. “I mean, Ididjust hump your car.”
“Touché.”
I give the poor man a moment to recover and climb off him. I really should go inside—Paulie and Easton are going to have no doubts about what we were doing out here.
I pop the door open. “See you tomorrow, Storm Cloud.”
“Looking forward to it, Sunshine.”
And that simple statement lights me up. I hop out of the car.
“Oh, and, Shane?”
I pause, my hand on the door.
“Be a good boy and send me a picture of the mess you made when you get to your room.”
A thrill rushes through me. I throw him a wink. “Oh, I’ll be the goodest boy, JJ.”
I shut the door and head into the house, a wicked smile curling my lips.
TWENTY-NINE
JED
On the drivehome from Shane’s, my phone dings and a smile splits my face. So good at taking orders.
I wait until I’m back in my apartment before I look at my phone. The minute the text chain pops open, I groan. Sure enough, there’s a picture of Shane’s navy boxers, a dark wet spot covering the front.
Me
That’s a big mess you made.
His message pops up a few seconds later.
Sunshine
It was. You have that effect on me.
The three dots appear on my screen, then another message pops up.
Sunshine
