“Lego was a special interest of mine for a while. My mother still has all of my bricks, color-coded and sorted according to type.”
“You could bring more of your stuff to our house if you want. We have the whole gaming room for things like that.”
“I would, but what about when I leave?” Ezra asked, the flutter of anxiety audible in his voice.
“I don’t know, babe. It makes me sad when I think about that.”
“Yeah, me too.”
“I told my parents about you,” Roman said in an attempt to change the subject.
“You did?” Ezra sounded hesitant and Roman wasn’t sure why.
“Yeah, I told them how sweet you are and how much I like having you as my boyfriend.”
“That’s nice of you to say.”
“Well, it’s true. I miss you, cutie.” He couldn’t believe it had only been a few days since Ezra had left—it felt like weeks had passed.
“I miss you too. I miss your hugs. And breakfast. And sleeping in your bed.”
“And sex?”
“Oh yes. I miss that a lot.”
Roman did as well. He hadn’t been this horny in years, hadn’t spent so much time preoccupied with thinking about sex in his entire life. Would Ezra be up for a some fun? A little phone sex to ease their week-long separation? “Are you in your bedroom right now?” Roman asked.
“Yes.”
“Are you feeling sexy?”
“Mmmm hmmm. So sexy.”
“Let me video call you and you can show me how sexy you’re feeling.”
“Okay,” Ezra said, clearly game for whatever Roman might have in mind.
Roman stripped off his shirt and pants and climbed into bed before calling him back. His phone screen showed Ezra kneeling on the single bed of his childhood bedroom, wearing nothing but his tightie-whities and a grin. It seemed they were on the same wavelength.
“Hey, babe. It’s good to see your face.”
“Yours too.”
“I like your room.” The walls behind Ezra were decorated with posters of spacecraft and anatomical renderings of orchid flowers. “Did you draw those?”
Ezra glanced over his shoulder. “Yes, for a school project.”
“Did you get an A?” Roman asked, already knowing the answer.
“Yes.”
“They’re very pretty.” Roman was about to suggest he bring some back with him to frame and hang on the walls, but he didn’t want to revisit the fact that their arrangement was only temporary.
“Thank you.” Ezra smiled. His hair fell in front of his face so that he had to push it back out of his eyes.
“Where’s your mom?” Roman asked.
“She took some food and gifts to Gladys, an elderly friend.”
