Jay shrugged. “I mean, Ilikehim, but I don’t want to freak him out or anything.”

Ezra understood Jay’s concern. Surprises were always a risk. “Don’t give him anything dead or super smelly.”

“That rules out a bunch of my ideas,” Jay said with a teasing grin. “Would you have been freaked out if Roman had gotten you something really expensive when he was first getting to know you?”

“I don’t know. The first thing Roman gave me was a stuffed Grogu.”

“A what?”

“A baby Yoda.”

“Aw, that’s sweet.”

It was sweet, now that Ezra thought about it. Maybe Roman had like-liked him even longer than he knew. “He said it reminded him of me. Is there anything that reminds you of your yoga instructor? Something he likes too?”

Jay took a moment to think about it. “He likes rocks.”

“Really? That’s cool. I have a rock collection too.” It was still at his mother’s house, but maybe he could bring it to Roman’s and show it to Jay’s yoga instructor.

“Yeah, healing ones, like crystals. The bigger the better it seems.”

“Well, there you go. Get him a giant crystal.”

“Should I make it in the shape of my dong?” Jay asked.

Ezra laughed, imagining it. “Soft or hard?”

“Ezra, come on now. Don’t do me like that.”

Ezra giggled again. Jay was so funny. “Then yes, give him a crystal in the shape of your long dong. If he likes it, then he’s definitely the man for you.”

Jay smiled and seemed to like the idea. “So, real talk. How are things between you and Roman? Everything going good?”

“Yes.” Ezra felt a flutter in his stomach. He knew some things were private, but he felt that if he didn’t tell somebody, he might burst. “We did anal last night.”

“So, I heard. How was it?”

“Good. I want to do it again. Maybe in a few days, though. I’m pretty sore.”

“He went easy on you though?”

“Yes. He was so nice to me. I didn’t tell him the outfit was your idea.” Jay had suggested the holiday theme, and as usual, he was right!

“You made a good choice. He seemed to really like it.”

“He’s definitely an outfit kind of guy. Do you think he’ll like what I made him for Christmas?”

“He’ll love it, Ezra, trust me. You’ve got that man eating out of the palm of your hand.”

Ezra was pretty sure that was a good thing, especially if Romanandfood were involved.

When they arrived back at the house, Roman made him close his eyes while he was led to his bedroom. When Roman told him to look, Ezra found that his room had been transformed. Where his desk used to be, there was now a much larger one that looked like a drafting table with a crank to transform it into a standing desk. And instead of his wobbly, tattered desk chair, there was a bigger, fancy-looking one in its place.

“It’s ergonomic,” Roman said, “so your back won’t hurt from coding.”

Naturally, Ezra burst into tears because it was so thoughtful of Roman and also because it made him want to stay even more. “How will I take it with me?” Ezra asked, starting to get anxious again about his future.

“Where are you going?” Roman said.
