The guys laugh, but Zeke’s jaw drops to the floor. He may act like a pig sometimes, but I think he’s been the easiest to get along with since we met.
He’s the only one I know who can handle the heat I throw—
“If you want to see it that bad, dollface.” He smirks. “All you got to do is ask.”
—and throw it right back.
After weeks of sneaking around with Declan, I thought getting ready for this date would be the easiest thing I’ve done.
Except now, I’m standing in front of a full-length mirror, trying on my sixth pair of jeans.Sixth.And there’s hardly anything different between each pair, but I still can’t figure out what looks good… do any of them even look good?
“I need your help,” I say when Brinley’s face appears on my phone.
“With?” she wonders as Maia pops in behind her.
“Are you getting ready for yourdate?!” Maia teases, and I shush them both.
“Cam is in the other room. He might hear you guys… especially you.” I point at Maia. “The one who’s supposed to be at a college on the other side of the country.”
She throws her hands up in defense before scooting in next to Brinley.
“What are your options?” she asks, shoving a singular fry in her mouth.
“That’s the thing, it’s so cold outside that there aren’t many options.”
“Yeah, if you guys started dating in the Spring, I have a dress that would’ve done wonders for your body. He’d want to rip it off you the moment he saw you,” Brinley replies.
“I already told you; sex isn’t on the table for us… right now,” I whisper, and they grin.
“Right now,” they mock.
“You guys are no help. I’m gonna call Tate. Maybe she’ll give me some helpful advice.”
“She’s in class,” Brinley responds.
“Then I’ll call Zeke; he’ll give it to me straight.”
“Maybe if you want to end up in lingerie under a long trench coat,” Brin replies, and I laugh… that sounds about right. “Set your phone up so we can see your full outfit.”
I do as I’m told, stepping back far enough to show them what I’m wearing, which isn’t much, but with the sub-zero temperatures outside, I think this is the best it’s gonna get.
“Not those jeans,” Brinley begins, “they do nothing for your ass.”
“Plus, they wash you out,” Maia adds.
“Where are the jeans you wore on Halloween? Those made your ass look great. Like I would’ve hooked up with you in those jeans.”
I want to say, well, your brother almost did, but that would turn into a whole different conversation, so instead, I say, “You know, you talk about sleeping with me a lot. Are you sure you’re okay with me going out with your brother and you’re not jealous?”
“Haha.” She rolls her eyes. “Funny. I’m just trying to build up your confidence. If there’s anything I’m jealous of, it’s the fact that you’re dating a hockey player, and I’m… well, not.”
“If you say so.”
I search the pile of jeans I’ve already tried on for the ones I wore on Halloween. Once I find them, I strip out of my current ones and pull those on. The second I do, Brinley and Maia hoot and holler at me. I roll my eyes.
“Already so much better,” Maia says. “Brin has great taste.”
“Now, what are our options for tops?” Brinley asks, and the moment she does, a text pops up on my screen.
