“But you love me.” He shoots me a wink, and I take the time to embrace his very sexy and very naked physique.
“Well, after that, it’s debatable.”
I drag myself out of bed and strut toward him. I run my hands down his chest, pressing my lips against his chest, before looking up at him.
“Honestly,” I push up on my toes, my lips meeting his ear, “if anyone’s missing out… it’syou.”
I pat his chest, push past him, and go into the bathroom before shutting the door.
“Alright, maybe I deserved that. Come on, let me in.” He knocks. “Round three can take place in the shower.”
“Sorry, Sanderson.” I turn on the shower. “You missed your chance.”

Declan
Ican’t believe I’m dating a real-life celebrity.” Ember grins, her body resting on top of mine.
“I don’t know if I’d say I’m a celebrity.”
“Around this time next year, you’ll be signing your NHL contract; I’d say you’re pretty close to being a celebrity.”
“Is that the only reason you’re with me? I didn’t think I was dating a Liv.”
“Ha ha, very funny. I’m just saying, everything you’ve worked for is happening.”
I press my lips against the top of her head.
“They could still choose to not sign me. Just because I’m drafted doesn’t mean—”
“You carried your team to a frozen four championship, Declan. They would be crazy to not make it official.”
She rests her head on her palms to look at me.
“What’s bothering you?”
“Nothing. I’m happy.” I run my finger along her cheek. “For the first time in a long time, it seems like everything’s finally falling into place.”
“Because you deserve it.” She kisses my cheek before sitting up and tucking her knees into her chest. “And I want you to remember that you got here withouthim.”
I don’t need to ask who she’s talking about because it’s pretty clear. But I don’t know why she’s talking about him. I wasn’t even thinking about him… okay, maybe I was.
“You’ve said it yourself, Declan; he may be the reason you started playing hockey, but you continued to do it because you love it.Youwon the frozen four with a team that looks up to you. You guys pulled off that win; he had nothing to do with that.”
“Thank you.” I wrap my arms around her bent legs. “Somehow, you always know what to say.”
“It’s a gift.”
“Yeah.” I pull her closer to me, using my current grip around her calves. “You know, the guys shouldn’t be home for a few hours. Marcus is throwing a party for our win.”
“Must be nice for a party to not be here for once.”
“Especially because that means we have the place to ourselves.”
“Oh really.”
“Yeah.”
