Oh my God. This time when I think, ‘What have I done?’ I’m laughing, cum is dripping down my thighs, and his mouth is sucking on my neck.

Chapter Forty-Seven

Jake

The second I turned onto the highway leading back to Brookhaven, Emily’s eyes closed, and she went to sleep. I shut off the radio, so I wouldn’t disturb her, and now, I’m left to my own thoughts. The ones of us entwined together are soon overwhelmed by my stupidity.

So much for promising to keep my hands to myself until she was thinking clearly. The second she said shut up; I was a goner. But it was stupid. Irresponsible. Potentially criminal. Shit.

I tap my fingertips on the steering wheel and glance over at her sleeping form. Her head is tilted toward the passenger side window, so her face is blocked from my view. Her chest rises and falls the steady rhythm of sleep.

What happens if she wakes up and forgets everything that’s happened between us? You’re an asshole. She was under the influence, and you just had to bang her like a screen door. Couldn’t you have at least taken her out to eat first?

I don’t know which is worse. If she wakes up and has forgotten everything. Or if she wakes up and does remember. If she wakes up and wonders what in the fuck she’s doing with me, it’s going to shred my heart. But the other alternative may be worse. What if she feels used? Again.

I flip on the blinker and pass a string of slow-moving vehicles. When I ease back into the righthand lane, she murmurs in her sleep and shifts her head toward me but doesn’t rousefrom her slumber. Fuck, it feels like there’s a knife stuck in my back.

After I rotate my shoulders, I pop my neck from side to side. Everything’s going to be fine. It must be. Now that I’ve had her in my arms a second time, I’m not letting her go.

Thirty minutes later, I put my pickup into park and shut off the engine. Emily’s eyelids flutter open and then her eyes widen as she jerks her head upright and looks around. The look of panic on her face has my gut churning.

I scrub my hands on my thighs. “Are you okay?”

“Yes.” Her face is tight as she grabs the door handle. A moment later, her hand drops to her lap like she touched a hot stove. “I….”

“It’s fine.” I put my hand on the ignition key. “I can take you home. I wanted to keep an eye on you to make sure you were okay.” I pause for a second and then bite the bullet. “And I wanted to keep you close so when you woke up in the morning you didn’t disappear.”

She licks her lips and meets my gaze. “The parking lot wasn’t a dream, was it?”

Fuck. I close my eyes. Shit. I rub my hand over my face. What in the fuck do I say to her? I basically let another guy drug her to have sex with her. It’s sick.

I lick my lips and straighten my shoulders. “Em, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have–”

“Did you want to?” Her question is quick and forceful.

“Yes. I’ve never wanted anything more in my life.” I finally meet her gaze again as the confusion lifts and the corners of her mouth tip upward as she unfastens her seatbelt. “But I shouldn’t have done it.”

The smile wipes from her face. “Why?”

“Because you weren’t sober. Because I said I’d wait until morning when I was sure you knew what you were doing. Because–”

“Stop with all that.” She crawls over the console and climbs into my lap, wrapping her arms around my neck as she goes. “I wasn’t sure if it was real or if I made it up while I was sleeping.”

I slide my hands up her back, caressing her and loving the feeling of her settling against my body. She shifts into me, until I bite back a groan. The smile that was playing at her lips breaks across her face. “But since it was real, I know you enjoyed the hell out of it.”

“You have no idea how much I enjoyed it.” My voice is rough as I try and get the words out before I’m distracted. “I loved every second that I was buried inside of you, and I’d love to do it again.” I grasp the back of her head and stare into those hazel eyes. “And again.”

She cups my face. “I think I’d like that.”

“Promise when you wake up in the morning, you won’t disappear.” My heart skips a beat as I wait for her response.

The humor drops from her face. “I promise.”

“Good.” I close the distance between our mouths and kiss her soundly until she’s grinding into my aching cock. But now,we’re in Brookhaven. In my driveway. This is not the place for hooking up.

“I think we should go to bed and get some sleep,” I say against her lips.

“Sleep?” Her eyes dance as she threads her fingers through my hair.
