Turning off the alarm, he saw the notice from school that the school was going to be closed for the day.Thinking that he’d just rest a bit longer, he pulled the covers up and over himself and Lisa and closed his eyes.There was no point in getting up early when the buses wouldn’t be running.
“I forgot to set my alarm again.”He told her there was no school.“He’s going to hate that.We were just talking about Spring Break last night.He’s counting the days until he can take off.”

“She said that it was totally up to him, but she didn’t have a problem with him going with us.I hope he can go.It’ll be fun for Davy to have someone about his age to hang out with.”He said he’d bet he’d go just to be doing something on Spring Break.“I heard that he was doing something with the wolf pack, but they take the time off during that time so that they can hang out with family too.”She looked up at him.

Kissing Lisa on the lips, he kissed Davy on the head.They were ready for the day to begin, and he was glad that he was going to be there with them.As soon as they had their breakfast, he had a second one to join them, and they bundled up in their winter clothing and headed outside.Their driveway had already been done and was cleaned off of the nine inches of snow, but he wanted to make a snowman with his family, and that was what they set about doing.
At one-thirty, they were heading back to the house for lunch and some hot cocoa.It wasn’t terribly cold out, but the snow was starting to come down again.He was glad it was Friday, as it was standing right now, they’d more than likely wouldn’t have school again if it were any other day of the week.Gathering around the fireplace, they were happy to have it lit for them so that they could get warm.His cheeks were hurting; he’d been laughing so hard since they went out.
He had some work to do after lunch, and Lisa had papers to grade.Davy was content to go to his room for a few hours and read his books.He loved to read and was glad that he’d been able to get him some books in his reading range the last time he’d been in town.The library had a lot of books for Davy, but since he didn’t know what he’d read or not, he would just buy them and pass them on when he was finished with them.He was reading at a fifth-grade level according to his teacher, and he couldn’t have been prouder of him.
Dinner was fast approaching when he finished up his work.Lisa had been done for a while and was playing a game with her son.As soon as he was able to join them, Davy was declared the victor, and they put that one away in favor of something else.Lisa had had a lot of such games at her house when she moved in with him, and he was happy that she had.It was fun playing games on a snowy day when they couldn’t go anywhere.
Cassian walked over to his house about the time they were sitting down to dinner, and they invited him to join them.He said that he had some paperwork for him that couldn’t wait, and he’d just go home.He’d only come over to bring him the work and didn’t plan on staying.
“At least sit with us.You know it’s been a long time since we’ve been able to have dinner together.What with the weather and all.”He said that he missed it too and couldn’t wait for summer.“I know what you mean.I want it to be warm too out.My feet are always freezing.”
As they were finishing up with dinner, Cassian did have to go.He said that Raven was holding dinner for him, and he didn’t want to eat that late.When he left, they had their dessert and settled in the living room to watch some television.
“Just go and do whatever needs to be done.”He asked Lisa what she meant.“You’re not watching the program, so you might as well do what you want.Go do the job that he brought you so that youcan quit worrying about it.”
“I thought that I was hiding it well.”She said that he might have someone else, but not her.“I’ll only be as long as it takes me to get it taken care of.No working on things that can be put off until tomorrow.I promise.”
“Just do what you need to do.I understand.”Davy said that he understood, too, but he had a feeling that he didn’t have any idea what they’d been talking about.The show was one of his favorites and he hated to miss it.“You’ll even sleep better if you get it done rather than worrying about it all night.”
As soon as he opened the file, he nearly went back to the living room to watch television.It was going to take him hours to sort out the stack of contracts that needed his attention right away.Two of them were due on Monday, so he had only had a few days in order to get them ready.The rest were due this coming week, so he had to work on those as well.He was going to be busy for the next several days before he got them finished, and wasn’t looking forward to it.He wanted to spend time with his family, and he hated having interruptions when they were both home with him.
“I’m headed to bed.”He looked at the clock and couldn’t believe that it was nearly eleven o’clock.“You don’t stay up too late, or you’ll be exhausted again.There won’t be any school, of course, but we still love having you around at breakfast.”
