“ETA to Gripwich Station is two hours,” Bea said as she stood up and headed for the cockpit. “There’s a magnetic storm or something in the area, so comms are currently down. It should clear out by the time we get there though. I’ll keep you posted.”
Rick followed her, asking something about the Maine’s comms module.
“You didn’t eat,” Aiden said as he sank into the armchair Bea had just vacated and watched Darren fill two mugs with coffee.
He handed Aiden one and sat on the couch across, pointing with his chin at the bag Aiden began unpacking. “It seemed only fair I wait for you since you went through the trouble of getting this.”
“Don’t be silly. It’s not like I’d have minded,” Aiden argued, partially amused and partially glad that Darren had waited to eat with him.
“Then attribute it to me wanting to make sure you didn’t starve yourself again.”
“I don—”
“You do when you are stressed. But your friend is here now and we are on the way to the scientists and then the hideout, so dig in before the food gets cold,” Darren scolded playfully.
Tugging on his shirtsleeve above his elbow, Aiden frowned at the table for a few moments, then picked the delicious-smelling burger with both hands and took a bite, all the while wondering if Darren had noticed any other of his quirks.
