He blinked at the phone, then looked back at me like he was really about to try me. “Man, I don’t know that shit right now.”

I stared at him for a second, then let out a low laugh. “You don’t know the password to yo’ own phone?”

“I’m fucked up, man,” he rushed out, shakin’ his head. “I been drinkin’. I don’t remember.”

“Boy, you ain’t that fuckin’ drunk,” I said, pressin’ the gun harder against his head. “You remembered how to walk toyo’ apartment. You remembered where yo’ keys was. You gon’ remember this password too.”

He kept shakin’ his head, mumblin’ about how he couldn’t think, how he needed a second, how I needed to chill, and all that weak ass talk was startin’ to get on my fuckin’ nerves.

“A’ight,” I said, noddin’ like I was bein’ reasonable when I wasn’t. “I’m gon’ count to three, and if you still don’t remember by then, I’m blowin’ yo’ shit back and I’ll figure the phone out another way.”

His eyes went wide.

“One.”

“Bruh, wait, man, chill.”

“Two.”

“Alright, alright, damn!” he blurted out, panic takin’ over his whole face. “It’s 7-4-1-9-3-2!”

I took the phone, unlocked it myself, checked it quick, then tossed it over to Kelli without even lookin’ at him. He caught it and got straight to work, his focus shiftin’ immediately while I kept the gun right where it was on this nigga’s head.

The room went quiet after that. Buddy sat here breathin’ heavy, barely movin’, while Kelli worked through that phone, scrollin’, checkin’, and diggin’ through whatever he needed to find.

Time stretched, but I ain’t rush it.

When Kelli finally stopped, I could tell somethin’ was off just by the way he looked up.

“What?” I asked, keepin’ my tone even.

He looked at me, then at Kush, then back at me again like he was puttin’ it together in real time.

“Bro…” he said low. “One of the investigators on the case got the rest of the footage.”

That made me turn back to Kush slow, my eyes lockin’ on him again.

“Who?” I asked, my voice different now. “Who the fuck got it?”

He shook his head, still tryna beg, still tryin’ to avoid sayin’ shit, and that told me everything I needed to know before he even opened his mouth.

Kelli spoke again, cuttin’ through all that hesitation.

“Bro… it’s his dad.”

For a second I just looked at Kush, and everything started linin’ up in a way that made too much sense, from the missin’ footage to the setup and the way all this shit been movin’, and once it clicked for me like that, I ain’t feel the need to ask him nothin’ else.

I pulled the trigger and took his shit off, the sound fillin’ the room while his body jerked from it before droppin’ heavy to the floor like whatever was holdin’ him up just gave out. I looked down at him, still holdin’ his gaze even though his eyes was already gone, and empty in a way that ain’t give nothin’ back. Blood started oozin’ from the back of his head, spreadin’ slow across the floor, and I just stood there for a second, watchin’ it like it ain’t mean shit.

I stood there for a second after that, lookin’ down at him, then over at Kelli, feelin’ that shift settle in.

“I feel like we gettin’ real close to some shit,” I said low.

’Cause now everything was startin’ to make sense, and we was one step away from gettin’ Kay’Lo up out this shit.

“Kay’Lo…” I moaned, lookin’ dead in his eyes while he held my legs wide open, his thumb rollin’ slow over my clit while my whole body reacted to every circle like it was too much and not enough at the same time.
