“You bring your fuck buddy to meet the family the day Oliver ends up in jail?”
“Liam,” Theo barked, and Liam made a big deal of zipping his lips and winking at me over his phone.
The patter of footsteps thundered down the steps. A young slim girl with brilliantly blonde hair careened around the corner and right behind her was a girl with a tan complexion like mine, her head slightly lowered. Her long black tresses swayed around her shoulders. They were both dressed in silky pajamas and seemed close in age to me.
“Vanessa, what are you doing up this late?”
“You’re not leaving me out of it.” She crossed her arms. “Thanks for the text, Liam.”
Liam only smirked in the face of Theo’s disapproval.
“What has Oliver done now?”
“Been a nuisance, when is he not?” Caine commented. My head was bouncing back and forth to take in everyone talking.
“My younger sister and stepsister,” Samuel whispered near my ear, eliciting a shiver from me. Vanessa was standing near enough to hear, and she whirled to look at me, shock lifting her eyebrows.
“Oh, hello,” she said, bursting forward to pick my hand up and shake it. A waft of her Omega scent tickled my nose. “I am pleased to meet you.”
“You’re going to shake her up.” Samuel squeezed her shoulder, stopping the vigorous shaking of my hand.
A bang made me jump and Samuel stepped toward the noise. A dark-haired, very tall man stumbled through the foyer and upon seeing all eyes on him, he opened his arms wide with a large devil-may-care grin.
“Siblings, I am glad to be welcomed home into the warm bosom of your embrace.” He snickered, those wide shoulders of his shaking.
“Who posted your bail?”
His eyebrows raised.
“I did,” Liam announced, shrugging.
“You should have let him rot,” Samuel snapped. He stood behind me, so I had to look back to see him glaring at his brother. “He needs to learn his lesson.”
“What do they have you in for now?!” Vanessa scowled.
“Public indecency. He was getting it on in a?—”
“Public indecency?” Vanessa shook her head.
“Think of the company image,” Theo snapped.
“Whoring around is one thing but doing it in the fucking streets?” Caine drawled.
“Now, now brother, I did not judge you when you fucked some woman, and she ended up pregnant.” He smirked. Caine slowly stood, ice spitting from his gaze.
Liam finally lowered his phone, eyes bright with excitement.
But Caine only walked away from the madness.
“Just pay off the rags.” Oliver waved his hand around. “It’s not like I did anything terrible. New sister,” he crowed and hooked his arm around the dark-haired girl’s neck, dragging her close enough that I got a whiff of her Beta scent. She gasped.
Theo’s gaze narrowed and with a swipe of his large bearlike palm, he gripped Oliver’s hair and dragged him off her.
“Ah! Ah! That fucking hurts,” he hissed, stumbling into me. His eyes squinted. “Oh, who do we have here.” His glazed eyes brightened, and he was in front of me, tipping my chin up. “Such a lovely face?—”
A fist flew at his face and Oliver went stumbling. I screamed, and hopped out of the chair, scurrying to put myself behind it. Samuel stormed forward.
“Sam!” Cries bounced off the walls and I backed up, watching Samuel beat the ever-living heck out of his brother as he weakly swiped back, obviously impaired from alcohol.
