“Exactly.”

“Um... I don’t know. I’d probably be happy anywhere. As long as it wasn’t a morgue or something.”

His laugh sends a thrill down my spine. “Your only limitation is no morgues? You really aren’t picky.”

“What about you? Where would you want to go?”

“If I were with you? Anywhere.”

My whole body tingles. If he were here right now I’d kiss him so hard.

A voice on Will’s end calls his name and he growls. “Father again. I should probably go.”

“I’m glad you called.”

“Me too. And we’ll see each other when I’m back?”

“Yes, absolutely. I can’t wait.”

I end the call and lean back in the chair, soaking in the delightof talking to him.If I were with you? Anywhere.

I’m too happy to work on my paper, so I scroll through my Bath photos again. Who would have thought I’d soar from the depths of high school humiliation to dating someone this perfect? Clearly no one back home. A few girls have even jumped into my DMs to accuse me of photoshopping Will into my photos! As if I know enough about computers to do that. But I’m taking it as a compliment... and an excuse to keep posting even more.

Eventually I make myself get up. Dev is still in the room, talking with Sage. She takes one look at me and clucks her tongue. “A good call, I see.”

“Very good.” I smile and sink into my chair.

“Well, you missed a very enlightening conversation on English literature,” Dev tells me.

“You know,” Sage says, “the British Museum has the oldest surviving copy ofBeowulf. I was thinking of visiting it sometime.”

Dev turns. “Really?”

“Visit what?”

“The original text ofBeowulf,” Sage tells me, and picks up her copy. “It’s not always on display, but sometimes the public can view it. Plus, they haveCanterbury Tales, a folio of Shakespeare’s works, the originalAlice’s Adventures Under Ground.... It must be amazing.”

Dev jumps out of his chair. “We should plan a trip!” he practically screams.

I catch his eye and put out my hand like I’m pushing a brake pedal.

Sage turns, her eyes shining. “We could split our time betweenthe library and the British Museum—”

“Maybe St. Paul’s Cathedral?” Dev adds.

“Yes!” Sage claps. “I’ve barely gotten to see the city on my research Fridays.” She turns to me. “You haven’t been to London yet, have you, Ellie?”

I shake my head in surprise.

“You should come with us.”

“Um...” I would love to visit London, but I don’t want to butt in. I glance at Dev.

“Yes, come.” He nods encouragingly. “I’ll ask Huan too. It would be fun to have a group go together.”

“Really? It does sound fun. Maybe we could go to Harrods too?”

Dev and Sage frown at me, perplexed.
