“I can’t ask one of them to do that,” Owen protested.
“I can,” Ava countered. “What’s she like? Is Noah or Lucas better? She sounds like a real bitch, so I’m thinking Lucas.”
Owen laughed, imagining Lucas and Tori making stilted conversation over a candlelight dinner. Their personalities would clash. And suddenly that sounded like the perfect idea.

Owen heard a door creaking open and a muffled conversation in the background.

“I’m sure. He’ll be there,” she said with a confidence Owen didn’t feel. “You’re mine for the next six weeks, Owen. And I’m not sharing what’s mine.”
