“I ain’t gonna lie, that shit hurt.” He moved his mouth around. Blood trickled out of his nose. “You are your father’s son.” He leaned forward as much as he could since he was restrained. “Your father changed, and I was trying to make more money. He wasn’t going to agree with the shit I was trying to do, so he had to go.”

“You could have just left and did your own thing.”

“Nah, I couldn’t. I needed that Viper name. I know you homeboys with the police chief, and if some shit would have went down, you would have called in a favor.”

I was friends with the police chief and his siblings. His brother ran their family’s hotel, and his sister was an assassin. I almost called her to kill Beast, but I wanted his blood on my hands.

“I wouldn’t have done that shit. Again, you could have just did that shit somewhere else, not kill my fucking father.” My fists were clenched near my sides. My nostrils flared as I looked at Beast’s coward ass. “I used to look up to you, then I realized you was just in my father’s shadow. You will never be half the man my father was. You killed him because you were jealous of him. He had a wife and kid, and yours left you. Slim was just a casualty of war to you, but that was someone’s son, someone’s brother.”

“Oh, ’cause you hitting the pussy, you want to avenge his death. I don’t blame you, though, because she is a cold piece.”

Before anyone could blink, I stuck a knife in his thigh.

“Fuck!” He tried to grab it but remembered his wrists were tied.

I snatched the knife out, and blood sputtered from it. It dripped onto the floor, and I smiled. It had been a while since I had to get my hands dirty.

“You know, initially, I wanted to prolong the inevitable, but I’d much rather spend my time with my girl.” I pulled my gun from my waist and aimed it at his head. “I would tell you to tell my father I said what’s up, but you ain’t going where he’s at. Burn in hell, bitch.” I pulled the trigger and put one right between his eyes.

I tucked my gun back in my pants, then walked out of the room. Tech, Slider, and Rico were right behind me.

They were my brothers, so of course they were going to be there. They let me do my thing, though, because they knew how bad I wanted Beast.

“How you feel?” Tech asked as we walked outside.

“Like I’m ready to lay up with my Munch.”

“This nigga turned soft as hell,” Slider joked.

The four of us got on our bikes. A few seconds later, Tay and Lamont came out of the warehouse, just as it caught on fire.

“Let’s get out of here. I’ll catch up with y’all tomorrow.”

Our engines roared over the crackles of the fire.

The six of us left on our bikes and went in different directions. The warehouse was on the outskirts of the Valley, so it took us a little minute to get back. I didn’t want anything to lead back to us, but I didn’t think it would anyway. By the time the fire department and police made it to the warehouse, Beast’s body would be burned. They’d probably assume he was a squatter, so they wouldn’t think twice about him.

As soon as I got home, I discarded my clothes and showered.

Munch entered the bedroom as I walked out of the bathroom. I had her wait at the clubhouse with Isis and Caramel. There were some other members there. They didn’t know what was happening, but they knew to keep an eye on the ladies.

While I was on my way home, I sent word for her to meet me at my house.

“You okay?” she asked as she pulled her shirt over her head.

“I’m perfect.” I picked her up and sat on the edge of the bed with her in my lap.

“Is it over?”

I wasn’t completely sure if shit was over, because I didn’t know if the Disciples were going to be on some bullshit about whatever deal they had with Beast or if they were going to let shit go.

I didn’t want to worry Munch, so I didn’t say anything.

“It’s over.” I kissed her nose.

She threw her arms around my neck and held on to me. I heard sniffles, so I moved back to look at her.

“Why are you crying?” I used my thumb to wipe a tear. I had to take her glasses off.
