“Hell, no.”
Ugh. I wonder if I’m going to get used to this. I wonder if it’ll be a good thing if I do.
“Do you like your job?” I ask him.
“Yeah,” he says. “You get to stare at hot girls all the time. It’s awesome.”
I raise an eyebrow. Dustin is in his forties, if not his early fifties. He’s twice the age of some of these girls. “But you can’t date them.”
He laughs. “At least not until the show’s over. Then they all hang out at these alumni events, and they hook up with producers all the time.Tech guys, too.” He winks.
I sink down in my seat. No, I don’t think getting comfortable withthatwould be a good thing. Not that I’m not grateful there’s a chance that someday I could ask Becca out. She seems legitimately cool, and Dustin is probably right. The odds aren’t great she’ll make it to the end of the show.
Then again, I have three more interviews this week. Becca’s just the first, and I’m new at this.
Probably it’s normal to feel this way. I’ll probably fall a little in love with all of them.
Which is good, because it means the viewers will, too.
