“I should call your mom tomorrow,” he comments, carefully climbing back to the passenger seat. “Thank you for doing this for me, planning the trip and taking the time, even if it was kind of a disaster.”

“Nope,” I protest, shaking my head. “Not a disaster at all. I got to watch you stand up and talk about our future… so sexy.”

“I think about it a lot,” he admits. “I told you I want all those things; it’s not like you didn’t know.”

“I still liked hearing it,” I confess, getting the car back on the road. “We’ve got hours ahead of us, so please elaborate some more about these plans.”

Sun slouches down in the seat, leaning against the door so he’s facing more in my direction. “I want to get a vacation home in Jeju, so we can take our kids there and spend time with your parents. We’ll have a girl first…”

I smile as he speaks, feeling lucky to listen to him plan out the rest of our lives..

????

“Hey, Sun, the food is going to be here soon,” I say, peeking my head into my home office. I realize I’ve interrupted something when I hear squealing.

“Oh my god, Sunni, is thathim?!”

Sun giggles as he says, “Yes, that’s him.” He looks over at me and motions for me to come closer. “Get over here, please.”

I cross the room to my computer, smiling at the familiar-looking face on the screen. Though we’ve never seen each other or spoken before, I know who she is from Sun talking about her and would recognize her anywhere, given how much she resembles her younger brother.

“Narae, this is Kija. Kija, this is my sister.” Sun gestures back and forth between us.

“Hello, Narae.” I wave at the screen and then drop a quick kiss on his temple. “Finish your call. I’ll let you know when dinner arrives.”

“Thank you,” he replies, giving my ass a smack as I turn, and I can see him trying to get her to wait until I’m gone before she says anything.

“Sunni! You didn’t tell me he wasthathot!” Narae shrieks, just as I walk out of the room.

“I literally did,” Sun replies, and I chuckle on my way to the fridge to get a beer.

I sit at the table and scroll on my phone after I take a few sips, glad nothing crazy seems to have happened at work while we were gone. It was a long, emotional day, but in the end, I think it turned out okay.

Sun had apparently decided he wanted to talk to his sister and, I assume, tell her about seeing their parents, while I showered and ordered food. I’m glad they’re close in their own way, picking up where they left off each time they speak, no matter how long it’s been between calls.

“I think my sister has a crush on you,” Sun says a few minutes later when he joins me, nudging at my chair until he can sit on my lap. “I’m glad she’s in Toronto, so we don’t have to fight over you.”

I laugh. “Too bad for her; I only want one Ahn sibling.”

“Lucky me,” he whispers, bringing his lips to mine.

TWENTY-TWO

KIJA

“Ithink that one is my favorite,” Sun sighs as I pause outside the door to my home office, where he’s on the phone with Nikko. Maybe I shouldn’t be eavesdropping, but I’m nosy. And curious. “It’s so romantic. I love that you’re telling people the whole story of your relationship, and they have no idea.”

“He’s my favorite thing to think about, so that’s why all the songs are about him,” Nikko answers. “I’m glad you like it. I’m proud of it.”

“You should be. I know VOX will love it, too, even if they’re incorrectly imagining all the songs are about them.” Sun laughs lightly, amused by the idea. Then he adds, “You and Lalo-hyung make a good team.”

“It’s been fun to work with him like this. Like, I knew he was talented, but being more involved with everything has shown me how much I don’t know, and how awesome he really is,” Nikko comments. “You know he’d work with you, too, if you wanted.”

“I know he would. He’s offered before,” Sun replies, as I hear him rearranging himself in the chair he was all folded up in.

This is new information for me. I realize I have no idea if he’s ever considered a solo project. I feel bad thatwe’ve never talked about it.

“Are you going to be next, then?” Nikko asks.
