“Tell me.”

After a brief pause, he leaned his forehead against mine. “Since you walked into our lives, I’ve refused to ever hope we’d dance together. But now the hope is there—and I’m terrified this was a one-time thing. What if I never get another chance?”

“Something tells me we’re going to find a way to dance together again, regardless of whether you’re healed or not. You said tonight didn’t hurt too badly, so let’s focus on hope and recovery.”

“I’m just…” Isaac inhaled deeply as a single tear dropped down on my cheek. I could pick up a trace of fear in his scent as he continued to rest his forehead against mine.

“You’re scared, and you’ve admitted it, but I’m here for you, and we’re going to walk this path together.”

Isaac lifted his head and nodded before walking off, sniffling. “Fuck Ivy, you’ve got two grown-ass men crying in here.”

I laughed softly as I walked over to the double doors and opened them. “I’m going to shower and change, and then head downstairs. Preston, I'm happy to make dinner tonight.”

"Not necessary," he replied, turning towards me. "Everything's prepared. I'll be down in a minute."

I nodded to him before leaving through the doors. Outside the room, I found Dem leaning against the wall.

“Everything okay?” he casually asked.

“I believe so,” I said. “It’s been an emotional night, but we’ll all grow from this.”

I pressed a kiss to his lips and proceeded to move downstairs. There was a part of me that grew excited to dance with more of my mates, but that feeling would need to wait till both had rested and recovered.

Chapter twenty-eight

Together

Ivy

I was the last to set my fork down as all five of us sat around the dinner table, chatting briefly about the funder’s show. I could still sense some lingering confusion between Preston and Isaac, but with time, I believed we’d all come closer from tonight’s experience.

I glanced around at the table at each one of my mates discreetly, feeling a certain squeeze in my heart towards them all. It was hard to believe I’d only been in this house for three weeks, yet here I was, feeling completely at home with my pack like we’d been together for years.

Looking over to Preston, I softly smiled as I listened to him chat with Lukas about some pictures. The soft glow of the dining room light illuminated Preston’s sweet, princely features as he sat next to me. As soon as there was a pause in their conversation, I gently brushed my fingers against Preston’s arm.

“Thank you, Preston. That was delicious. I wish you had let me help you tonight,” I said.

“I had everything mostly prepared before we went to the theater,” Preston replied. “It wasn’t any trouble at all.”

I nodded at his reply as I looked around to my three other mates.

“Are we all sleeping in the group bedroom tonight? With my parents in town tomorrow, it’ll be the last chance for us to snuggle up before they leave on Monday.”

“You don’t think your parents will be comfortable with the five of us coming out of one bedroom?” Isaac joked.

“Most definitely not,” I said. The thought of my parents’ horrified looks made me chuckle slightly.

“I have a thought,” Lukas said, clearing his throat as his eyes connected with mine. “I definitely want to join you tonight for bed. What if…”

Raising my eyebrows, I watched him curiously as he paused for a moment, glancing at Isaac and Demetrius briefly.

“What if we have some fun as a group tonight?” he asked, staring intently at me.

My eyes grew wide as my heart beat quickened.

“As a group?” I asked. Surely he didn’t mean…

“Let’s have some fun all together,” he said. “It’s been a long night. It’s going to be a long weekend. Let’s blow off some steam together and enjoy being with you.”
