“I can walk,” Rhodes says, yawning as he unbuckles his heels and takes them off.
The door bell rings and Rhodes makes a face.
“You’re it,” he tells me, standing with his shoes dangling from his fingers. “I probably shouldn’t answer the door.”
“Not if they’d like to survive the pleasure,” I growl, picking up our toys.
“I can bring that upstairs,” Koen offers.
Smiling, I hand everything to him, and he easily juggles it all as he leaves with Rhodes.
Getting up, I walk over to the door, my fingers sending the video on my phone to the secure folder that I have. While it’s processing, I tuck my phone away and answer the door.
“Hello.” Three men stand outside my door, and there’s a furniture truck outside my driveway. Still, I wait. I don’t invite anyone in without proper paperwork. “We’re from Knotted Furniture to bring in your sofa. Here is the work order, and it shouldn’t take long.”
Looking over the paperwork he hands me thoroughly, I nod.
“There’s a couch we’ll have to move to make sure this one will fit,” I explain.
“We can get it. Are we hauling it away?”
The name tag says his name is Gage, and I shake my head.
“It’s just something we rented when we had our house party. The house is pretty barren of furniture. We’re slowly changing that as we make intentional purchases,” I explain. “The back has french doors that open right into the living room. Which is an easier option to come through?”
Gage stares at me for a second before shaking himself.
“You’re so nice,” he mutters. “The front works well. This snow is awful to trudge through.”
“I’m still getting used to it,” I grumble. “When does this white stuff stop coming down?”
“May if you’re lucky,” the guy next to him grins. “We’ll get you set up in no time. Sounds like you’re new to Minnesota. Welcome to Lakeview.”
“Thanks. Even with the cold, I don’t regret it,” I admit.
People do crazy things for their scent matches, but I bet Rhodes and I have them topped.
CHAPTER NINETEEN
KOEN
The practice center is quiet as I walk through the building for a team meeting. I had some errands to run earlier, so I’m arriving separately from Rhodes and Skylar.
It’s been three days since we visited the animal shelter, and things are settling in well. My pack and I are buying groceries, furniture, and sex toys together, and it feels surreal in a good way.
I’m not saying a heat is a good ice breaker, but they took good care of me. I was unraveling and shattering under the pain, and they refused to take no as an answer. I suppose sometimes, being that single minded helps.
Now, I don’t balk as easily at Skylar and Rhodes’ daddy-sub relationship the way I did before, and it’s less of a surprise when I wake up tied to the headboard for funsies. The blow job definitely makes up for it too.
I’m willing to see where things go, which makes me more relaxed. I’m focused, our last game went really well, and Princess Sunny fits perfectly in our home.
She’s the sweetest, and I think she’ll enjoy going for runs once the weather is a little warmer. Rhodes stands at the window with the puppy in his arms and shows her the ice outside while she barks at it.
I kind of want to see what she’d do if she watched it come down from the sky. I wonder if she’d try to demand that it stop.
Chuckling under my breath, I push myself into a light jog so I’m not late for this meeting. We just got the text for it an hour ago, and as far as I know, it’s routine. I don’t feel anything to the contrary through my bond with Rhodes, though he feels impatient.
I think he might be waiting for me.
