“This is over the book? Over the author?” I whisper. I knew they’d be upset, but not this upset.

Sebastian folds his arms over his chest and glares at Katsu.

“I’m sorry,” I whisper.

“No!” Sebastian cuts in. “You don’t be sorry. Not ever. They are behaving like idiots. Come with me.”

“He’s right, this has nothing to do with you,” Katsu says gently, massaging my hand where he’s holding it.

I glance between them, but ultimately, I pull away from Katsu, taking a step towards Sebastian and all my secrets.Tell them, tell them now before it’s too late.

“I’m-”

“It’s okay. I will go and calm Fox down. Perhaps we all just need a day of space.” The words hit hard, making me feel like it’s an ‘us and them’ situation. I don’t want that, I want to stop it. Fix it. An unhappy whine slides out of me.

He’s leaving me.

Katsu stalks towards me and cups my cheek. “You have nothing to worry about, Omega. Everything will be fine.”

My heart aches painfully, but Sebastian glowers at our alpha and then tows me out of the house.

He leads us to the Sol house and goes into the kitchen, packing a bag of snacks and food. Then he grabs the beer and whiskey.

“Make the call,” he says tersely.

“What?” I say, startled. Shocked. To make the call is to summon Sunshine Cove. Are we there? I would never consider it for myself, but for Sebastian? I can do it.

“Make the call, Cordelia.”

I step out onto the porch and call Sofia. She answers on the first ring.

“Sup, bestie?”

“The sky’s on fire.” The code phrase slips out of me, and instantly, my body breaks out into goosebumps.

“I’ll meet you on the beach,” she says seriously. “Boys, get lost for a couple of hours. I’m busy.”

In half an hour, I’m huddled up in Sebastian’s truck as he drives us out to the lighthouse. He parks the car, pulls out a massive coat, and puts it on my shoulders.

“Sebastian,” I grab his hand, and he whirls on me, cupping my face.

“It’s not you. You are not at fault. I know why you’re doing this; I understand it. I have never once faulted you, and I will always be on your side.”

“They don’t know; they don’t understand.”

“I don’t care.Iwill ALWAYS be on your side.”

I grab his jumper and lean up into him. The words are there, in my heart, my soul, and finally, I can say them. “I love you.”

His mouth crushes against mine, and it’s home, it’s him, it’s safe, it’s everything I dreamed of, wild and huge, and this love will live in the stars, I know it.

He pulls back. “And you, Cordie, are the reason I am everything I am. I have and will always be yours.”

I choke on a sob, but he captures me in a massive hug and holds me until I get myself under control.

“I’m going to lose them.”

“Possibly. But you will have me.”
