He nodded. “Just trying to control my anger and Wolf.”

“It could be a coincidence,” I said.

“A coincidence?” Re strolled over to us with a bottle in his hand.

“Help yourself, Re,” Trevor muttered.

Re plopped down on the faux grass floor beside me and took a swig. “There are no coincidences in the god world. It's them. They took the keys and the wolf.” He leaned on my leg and then half sprawled across my lap. “It was so peaceful. For almost a year. I was getting used to it.”

I stroked the hair back from Re's face. “You know peace never lasts.”

“Aren't you the King of the Egyptian Pantheon?” Ereshkigal asked Re.

“Yes, I am!” Re lifted his bottle to her in salute.

“And you're married to a woman who has other husbands?”

“It's better than the alternative.”

“What alternative?”

“Not being married to her.” Re grinned up at me.

I leaned down to kiss him. Just a quick peck for good behavior.

“Unbelievable,” Ereshkigal whispered. “How do you do it?”

I shrugged. “Hell if I know.”

“So, what do we do about this trickster?” Ninkasi asked. “How do we find them?”

“That's the problem.” Trevor's face twitched again. “Without a scent trail, we can't track them. They even covered my brother's trail.”

“What did you do last time?”

“Honestly?” I squished up my face. “We waited for them to do something. The trickster always has a game going. If they stole your keys, it was for a reason, and we'll find out soon enough.”

“So, you can't help us.” Ereshkigal leaned back.

“Here you are.” Rachel had arrived with our drinks. She set them down on the flat-topped boulder between us. “Call if you need anything else. They just went to open the door, and there's a line outside, so use the intercom.”

“Thanks, Rachel.” I glanced at the intercom on the wall—a recent addition. It's hard to order drinks from the upper floor when Moonshine was busy.

As she left, we took our drinks and sipped them . It was a well-needed pause.

Trevor sat back. “I'm going to talk to my father. I'm hoping he has a way of tracking Ty.”

“Yes, of course!” I looked over at him. “He's the source of Ty's magic. He has a direct link to him.”

“And if you find your brother, you'll find the trickster,” Ninkasi concluded.

“Yes.” Trevor took out his cellphone and texted Fenrir. “I'm texting my father right now.”

“If he finds your brother, I would like to be part of the recovery party,” Ereshkigal said.

“Of course.” Trevor sat back, leaving his phone on his lap. “He should reply soon.”

“Get out of my way, mutt!” a male voice bellowed from the ground floor.
