“Don’t say it!” I cover my ears, making her laugh. But I look at her over the screen and ask, valuing her opinion, “Do you really think I should?”
“Yeah, I really think you should. Finding yourself, embracing what makes you happy…there’s nothing better than that. Take it from me, who fought love for way too long and wasted time.” Sadness flashes in her eyes. “Time’s precious, because we just never know…”
None of us expected Luthor to get suddenly sick and decline so quickly. They lost their beloved father, and I lost a close friend.
“Promise me you’ll live your life finding your peace and happiness.”
A mist blurs my vision. “What is it with you Wentzells all making me promise things?”
“Because that’s what family does.” Her voice is thick with emotion. “So, do I have your promise?” I nod, and she adds, “Good. Now, two things: I want the name of the club.”
“Why?”
Her striking face is dead serious. “Because a woman, especially a beautiful, single woman, going to a sex club should have at least one person who knows where she is, even if that one person is across the ocean.”
“I guess that makes sense. The club is called Hedon.”
“The second thing,” she pauses and grins. “Afterward, I want all the details.”
“Absolutely not.”
She laughs, wiggling her fingers at me. “Have fun, dirty girl.” Then she disconnects the call.
Setting my phone on the bed, I stand and slowly approach the dress, like it’s a wolf that might open its big, lethal mouth and snap shut around me.
Then, with a shudder of pure excitement, I quickly grab the dress.
Chapter 19
Army
AfterlisteningtoLeeva’scall through the bug planted in her bedroom, my phone rings as I rush into my bedroom at the clubhouse to grab what I need. I already know it’s Digits calling me—and I know exactly what he’s about to say—but I answer, anyway.
“Leeva’s leaving the hotel,” Digits reports. “I’ll track where she goes.”
“No,” I snap, undoing my jeans one-handed. “I’ve got it from here.”
“You’re at the clubhouse. I know you are.”
A smile curves my mouth. Dirty. Dark. Filthy. “And I know where she’s going.”
I end the call, not waiting for his response or questions. I quickly change into a dark suit and shirt, then grab the wolf mask and head for the door.
I’ve been stalking my prey—marking my territory, marking her—the past few nights while she slept.
Now it’s time to devour her.
Chapter 20
Leeva
ThemainroomofHedon is just as decadent as the other night. The only difference is that not everyone is masked.
I try not to openly stare at those without a mask. I might have been gone for years, but I recognize a few faces around the room. There’s a powerful businessman who was always on TV, getting his ass paddled by a domme, and I recognize a movie star who’s getting spit-roasted by two men, out in the open for all to see.
I fully appreciate the no phones or electronic devices policy. This is a place where people can be themselves freely, enjoying what they desire, uninhibited. The thought and understanding sends a thrill through me. Feeling like I’ve found my people in the unholy motherland, I bite back a smile and head to the bar.
“What can I get you, sweetie?” the bartender, a woman tonight, asks while she pours a glass of red wine.
