“Please?” A little sigh passed from her lips, and I knew in that moment I would do anything she dared to ask.
“Okay, hold on.” I pulled away from her and stood, getting my legs beneath me outside of the car before reaching in to grab her. Her arms looped limply around my neck, but I knew she was too tired to hold them there under any real weight.
But the second I had her lifted, Dom snarled. “Jesus Christ, she can’t walk herself upstairs?”
I lifted a brow, adjusting my grip around Kiera’s back to rest her head against my shoulder. Dom wasn’t stupid enough to think her suggestion was feasible, but it wouldn’t stop her from saying it.
“I don’t know, Dom. Why don’t we chain you up like that and see how you handle the stairs afterward?”
“Don’t get smart.” She grumbled, storming over to slam the passenger side door behind me. “Now if you’ll excuse me…”
“Heading out?” Leo stepped closer, arms crossed over her chest.
“There’s still work to do.”
“Now?” I lifted my gaze to the starry sky above us before pinning Dom with a skeptical glance.
“Yes, Moore. Even now.” She didn’t give us another opportunity to question her on it. She just tucked into the driver’s seat of the gold Camaro and peeled off into the night, leaving us in her dust.
With Kiera still sleeping peacefully in my arms, I turned to look over at Leo. “What crawled up her ass?”
Leo bit her lip, still staring down the driveway after Dom. “I don’t know. But I don’t like it.”
We’d both noticed the shift in Dom these past few weeks. She’d been distant, more irritable than usual, and more secretive too. But it had only gotten worse since Kiera’s first kill, since she became one of ours.
I shifted my weight slightly, tilting my head. “Still no idea what she has against Kiera?”
“Nope. Getting anything out of her is like banging my head against gravel. But…” Leo sighed, shaking her head.
“But what?”
“I can’t stop thinking about whatever she saw on that dirtbag’s phone the other night. She was bad before that, but she’s been worse since. Not just cranky, either. She seems… distracted, no?”
I nodded, frowning. “You’re not wrong. But what the fuck could he have had? Pictures…?”
Leo’s expression darkened briefly, but her tone stayed level. “He’s definitely the type. But I’d be surprised if that was enough to rattle her. And I definitely think she would have mentioned it.”
“I don’t know dude. Dom’s a fucking mystery.” As I sighed, Kiera sighed too. Her face scrunched up as she clung tighter tomy neck. “There’s no point freezing our asses off out here trying to figure it out. Let’s get her to bed.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Leo glanced down at her before jogging ahead to grab the door.
I carried her through the foyer and halfway up the stairs, following Leo toward Kiera’s room. As we reached the top of the landing, Leo glanced back. “You sure you don’t want me to take a turn carrying her?”
“What, so you can take all the glory?” I smirked, “No chance, Love Doctor. Go grab the door.”
Grumbling, Leo swung the door open and pulled back the sheets on Kiera’s bed, preparing a spot for her.
As I lowered her to the mattress, Kiera finally stirred, her heavy-lidded eyes shifting from me to Leo as an exhausted smirk pulled at her cheeks. “Gonna take advantage now that I’m all weak and vulnerable?”
“Oh yeah,” Leo scoffed. “Gonna take you for all the cuddles you’re worth.”
Stripping down to her underwear and tshirt, Leo slid into the bed beside Kiera, spooning her from behind. I took my time pulling off my own pants, giving Leo a moment with our little captive before hopping into the bed myself. “I think we’ve taken plenty advantage for tonight, Bunny. How are you feeling?”
She blinked slowly before looking up at me through those thick lashes of hers. “Alright. Better now.”
As she reached for me, I scooched closer, letting her hand wander over my bare torso. Her gentle touch raised goosebumps over my skin, along with waking the deep throbbing that never quite left my clit.
Fuck, I already wanted her again. I was starting to doubt I’d ever get enough of our little firecracker. But this wasn’t about what I needed. Initiation was intense — fun, but intense — andall that mattered now was making sure that Kiera felt safe and treasured.
