“It says here that sometimes the channels for spirits can be blocked.” I pointed at a passage of text I knew Silas couldn’t read. “If the channels are blocked, then spirits can’t pass on naturally as they should. Only a Fae Queen can relieve that sort of block.”

“Do you think that’s what’s happening?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know, but it sounds very likely. Especially if the Darkest Lord is involved. You said the underworld is a spirit plane?”

“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” Silas said. “If he is screwing with the balance of the island, it’s entirely possible that the natural channels to and from the spirit plane have become disrupted. Does it give you instructions on how to perform the spell or ritual that’s needed to unblock those channels?”

I shook my head. “Not here, not on this page. It just explains what it is. I need to read about it more.”

“Later,” Silas said. “You need your rest.”

“But—”

“You have had two trials in two days,” Silas said. “If your third is tomorrow, you need to rest.”
