I gave a little gasp. ‘Same here, as it happens. But the three weeks is up just before the wedding, isn’t it? So…’
He raised a brow. ‘It can’t come soon enough,’ he said. ‘Pun intended. But if you think that’ll satisfy my urge to take you in my arms, and kiss you until you beg me to stop, you’re wrong. If anything, I have a feeling I’ll want you even more.’
‘Beg you to stop? Are you mad? That’s something I think I can safely promise you I’ll never do.’
‘Never?’ He stared deep into my eyes.
‘Never.’ I stared right back.
‘That’s almost a challenge.’
‘Well,’ I said. ‘It is a contact sport after all. Even the medical professionals say so, and all sports are competitive, aren’t they? In one way or another. So challenge accepted. Bring it on.’
‘I intend to, Erin. Over and over again. That’s a promise. And one I intend to keep.’
