Griff gave Russell a sharp nudge. ‘Your turn,’ he said.

‘Oh. Yes. Erm.’ A crease formed between Russell’s brows but a smile was rapidly spreading across his mouth. ‘You do? Are you sure?’

Hanna nodded frantically. ‘Yes. I’m certain. I absolutely do.’

‘That’s fantastic news, because I love you.’

‘You … you do?’

‘I do. Completely and utterly. With all my heart, in fact.’

Griff cleared his throat. ‘They’re stealing our lines, my darling.’ He winked at Grace who was looking from Russell to Hanna as if she had no clue as to what was going on. ‘But here’s one for you, Russell. Don’t just stand there like an idiot. You may now kiss your girlfriend.’

‘Girlfriend? What? Ooooh. My girlfriend. My girlfriend! Yes.’ He covered the distance between Hanna and himself in a matter of seconds. He took her hands in his, looked into her eyes, and beamed at her. There was a catch in his voice as he asked, ‘May I?’

‘Oh, yes please!’ Hanna said, oblivious to the cheering and clapping and general hubbub now going on around them as they shared a passionate kiss, in the usually quiet little church of St Gabriel’s.
