The others have been asleep for a while, but I can’t go to sleep yet. I know that I’m in the Earth Realm, and I know that they are softer here, even the supernaturals. I know that they don’t do things in the same brutal way that the otherrealms do, I get that. It must have always been that way because it’s something that I remember.
However.
He touched her after she had said no.
I’m getting to know Neith. I know that she could have handled that situation within moments. However, I saw the look on her face the second he touched her, that was memories resurfacing. Whether she realized it or not, his touching her made something in her brain flicker with a memory of another unwanted touch.
So I took his fucking fingers.
But it’s not enough, he deserves so much fucking more.
And until I give it to him, until I punish him, I won’t be able to sleep, and my beast. He’s just going to get more murdery until it consumes me, and trust me, no one wants that.
Chapter Twenty-Two

Islowly move from the bed and out of the room, being careful that I don’t wake up Raiden or Reed. Both of whom snore, which I find surprisingly calming and not annoying like I probably should.
As I quietly make my way down the stairs and through the cabin to the front door, I make a plan.
I still can’t kill the fucker. We need help from the gargoyles, and we won’t get it if I kill one of them. Plus, this is Griff’s family, and it would definitely make things weird if I killed one of them. I don’t imagine that we would get invited back. Although Michael did seem surprisingly okay with me taking Joe’s fingers, so he might understand my reasoning.
It’s unlikely though.
However, there are other things that I can do that will satisfy my need to punish him without taking it too far in the eyes of the other gargoyles, should they ever find out that I paid Joe another visit.
“I thought I might find you out here,” a voice comments quietly the second that I step foot through the front door.
My sword is at his neck before I’ve even turned to look in his direction. However, as soon as my eyes land on him, I lower it.
“Dimitri?” I ask with obvious surprise. He is the last person that I thought I would have to worry about catching me sneaking out. “What are you doing here?”
Dimitri smirks, “Coming to help you pay that fucker a visit.”
I shrug and can’t help but smile at the simple way he phrases it. “Let’s go.”
Maybe I should question him, maybe I should ask him how he got here, and how he knows what I’m up to, but I only have a small window of opportunity to pay Joe a visit and get enough sleep before tomorrow.
Besides, I like Dimitri, and he is as much a part of this family and team as I am, even if the others haven’t quite figured that out yet. It’s more than obvious to me. I also know that he was having a hard time holding back earlier too.
“Can you come along without ripping his head off?” I ask, as we stalk through the darkness.
I can always find my prey when I’m hunting.
Joe was supposed to be under strict surveillance at the infirmary, but we’re heading in the opposite direction. Even if they have him under surveillance at home, it’s not going to stop me. He got off easy earlier, it really is that simple. I am happy to take whateverconsequences my actions may bring upon me, and to make sure that the gargoyles know that none of the others were involved.
Dimitri flashes sharp teeth in my direction, “Can you?”
“Touche,” I reply with a smile.
We don’t bother talking from that point forward. There’s no point.
Weirdly enough, I trust that he’s got my back and I have his. It's as if we have been fighting alongside each other for decades rather than having only met a handful of times before.
Finally, after moving silently through the streets of the village, we come across a little cabin, which is smaller than the one we’re staying in and could do with some work. It’s certainly not one of the better-looked-after cabins, that’s for sure.
