He shakes his head and smiles as he reaches behind me and turns the shower on.

It turns out that we both have less self-control than we thought we did because we end up having a quicky in the shower, which means that I do end up panic packing.

I mean, Griff helps, but he pretty much just grabs handfuls of clothes out of each drawer and stuffs them in the bag, so fuck knows what he’s actually packing. At this point, I’m just glad that I’m going to have some clothes to wear.

Grabbing the almost full bag and stopping him from adding a load of dresses that I definitely won’t be wearing in Scotland, in the winter. I head out to my chest of drawers that I keep in the main part of my room and throw a load of underwear in the bag too, before I finally zip it up.

“Alright, I have no idea what I’ve got in here, but I won’t be walking around naked, so that’s a win,” I announce as I turn back around to face Griff.

“A win for who?” He replies.

I raise my eyebrow, “Do you want all of your clan to see me naked?”

A dark look crosses his face, “Absolutely fucking not.”

“Well, then there we go, it’s a win for everyone,” I point out with a smirk.

“Fine,” he admits with a smile. “Come on, I can smell food, and I am absolutely starving. We’ll be lucky if the others have left us anything.”

I pull a face, “They wouldn’t dare eat it all.”

Griff gives me a look, and I panic, grabbing my bag and sprinting through the house.

As I get to the top of the stairs, House, sensing my urgency, changes the steps into a slide.

Which would be more awesome if I weren’t already on the top step and were, you know, prepared to have the stairs disappear from underneath me. I squeak as my ass hits the slide and I somehow manage to keep a hold on my bag as Griff howls with laughter, wisely staying at the top.

When I get to the bottom, I don’t bother to yell at House for the surprise, it got me down here quicker than I would have gotten down here if I had used the stairs, so instead I literally launch my bag on top of the pile of bags at the bottom of the stairs, as I jump up off the floor, the slide turning back into stairs as soon as I’m up, and then I start running again. I careen around the corner and then through the door to the kitchen, making everyone look up at me with surprise.

“Whoa, what’s the rush?” Baz asks.

Breathing heavily, because apparently, I need to work out more, and panic running makes me breathless, I reply in a somewhat convoluted explanation, “I thought you guys were going to eat all of the food.”

“Of course not,” Van replies, looking slightly confused as his eyebrows draw down.

Griff chooses that moment to walk through the door behind me, completely casual and not rushing at all, with a pleased smile on his face.

“You ass,” I grin as I realize that he was winding me up.

He chuckles, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you panic like that before, and we’ve been in some pretty dicey situations.”

I grab the first thing that I can reach on the table, which just so happens to be a bread roll, and launch it at his head. He, of course, catches it and takes a massive bite, grinning as the others fall about laughing, obviously having caught on to what’s going on.

I can’t hide my smile as I take my seat and load up my plate with all manner of food.

I like hearing their laughter even if it is directed at me.

“So, did you get everything that you needed packed?” Van asks, once everyone has calmed down, and they are eating.

I nod, “Yeah, I’m pretty sure I did. We’ll find out when we get there.” Before anyone can comment, I grin, “Did you guys know that House can turn the stairs into a slide?”

River’s head snaps up, “No fucking way.” He looks between Raiden and Coen, and as one, they all get up with huge grins on their faces, their grins widening as Baz stands up as well.

“What? I want a go,” Baz exclaims with an absolutely adorable smirk.

All four of them rush out of the room, completely abandoning their food, and the rest of us share a smile as we hear shouts of happinesscoming from the direction of the stairs. I’m assuming that means that House turned them into a slide for the guys.

“You guys are definitely going to have to try that,” Raiden grins as they come back in moments later.
