He laughs, clearly enjoying this. “I don’t know… I kind of like this possessive side of you. Didn’t peg you as the jealous type.”
I smack the magazine against his chest. “It’s my own fault. Have you actually looked at these pictures?”
His grin widens. “Once or twice.”
I narrow my eyes. “Miller, you practically radiate sex in these. Every woman who sees this is going to be thinking the exact same thing.”
He steps closer, backing me lightly against the car again, completely unfazed. “And what exactly are they thinking?”
I press the magazine between us, trying to hold my ground. “Things I’m not saying out loud at a little league field.”
He huffs out a laugh, leaning in until his mouth is just barely brushing mine. “Good thing I don’t care what they’re thinking.”
My breath catches despite myself. “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah,” he murmurs. “Because I only care about what you think.”
I challenge him with a look and lift my chin. “Well, I think we’re going to have to get married sooner rather than later.”
“Tomorrow soon enough?”
I gasp. “Tomorrow? I was… are you serious?”
He lifts my hand, turning it so the ring catches the light. “I’d marry you today,” he murmurs, “if we didn’t have somewhere to be.”
My heart stutters, but before I can respond, the crack of a bat echoes across the field.
“The game,” I say, breathless.
He grins. “Yeah.The game.”
We hurry through the stands, weaving past people as the first inning gets underway. I spot Eli almost immediately. He’s already watching for us.
I lift my hand and wave. His whole face lights up, and he waves back wildly like he hasn’t seen me for weeks instead of just hours.
Miller chuckles beside me but waves just as excitedly.
We finally make it to the bleachers, sliding in with the rest of the family.
“Where’s Aria?” I ask, glancing around.
Skyler shakes her head, her expression tight. “She’s not coming. I called her earlier… she sounded upset.” She exhales sharply. “I’m going to wring my brother’s neck.”
Zach, Logan, Miller, and Ozzy all exchange a look. I want to ask Miller about it, but I’ll have to do it later because soon the game pulls everyone’s attention back to the field.
I glance down at the magazine still tucked under my arm, then hand it to Skyler.
“We’re moving up the wedding,” I say casually. “That’ll explain why.”
Her eyes widen. “Wait! What?”
Within seconds, everyone is crowding around her. There are a few gasps and laughter.
“Oh my God.”
“Are you kidding me?”
The guys immediately start in on Miller, shoving at his shoulder, giving him hell, while the girls fan themselves dramatically over the pictures.
