“Please say we’re done.”

“Almost,” Emma said as she picked up her friend’s phone and scrolled through the pictures. “Now we just have to fill out your profile and tell all these guys why you’re so amazing.”

Nadine’s face blanched. “I don’t know how to do that.”

“That’s why I’m going to help you.” Emma downloaded theKissmet app, filling in Nadine’s information until it got to the profile questions. “Okay, here are a few prompts you need to answer to get a guy interested. So first one, ‘After work you can usually find me…’?”

Nadine shrugged. “Studying.”

Emma’s lips pursed. “Hmmm, how about ‘wandering a museum or reading about the neo-impressionist art movement.’?”

“Oh, I love the neo-impressionist art movement!” Nadine replied, her eyes lighting up.

“Right. Exactly.” Emma quickly moved on. “Okay, next one: ‘As a child, I really loved…’?”

Nadine thought about it for a minute, then replied, “Dressing up Mr. Mittens.”

Emma’s fingers paused above the screen’s keyboard as she looked up at her friend.

“Oh, Mr. Mittens is our cat,” Nadine explained. “That’s where Mom got the idea for The Posh Pussy, I used to dress him up in all my doll clothes. He only had one eye, so there was this one outfit for my Pirate Barbie that I—”

“How about: ‘taking care of injured animals,’?” Emma said as she typed. “Okay. Last one: ‘The biggest way my life has changed…’?”

Nadine laughed. “That’s easy. Moving to New York.”

Emma smiled. “Perfect.” She typed in the answer and handed the phone back to her friend. “All you have to do now is complete the rest of your profile and pick a main profile pic.”

“And then what?” Nadine asked, looking down at her phone as if a man was about to manifest out of the screen.

“Then guys will swipe right if they want to chat. And we can swipe right on them, too. It will be fun, I promise.”

Nadine let out a decisive breath. “Okay, I’m in. My nana isalways saying you miss a hundred percent of the shots you don’t take.”

“What are my two favorite customers up to?” Zane was suddenly standing next to the table, leaning over Nadine’s shoulder.

“Still studying,” Emma replied, even though she was aware that they hadn’t taken their laptops out of their bags yet.

Nadine let out a nervous laugh, moving to hide her screen against her sweater, but Zane still caught a glimpse.

“You’re on Kissmet?”

“Oh! Um… yes… I…” Nadine stammered as her face turned a deep shade of crimson.

“That’s cool. I’m on there too,” he said, a sly grin curling up his mouth. “It looks like you still need a photo, though.”

“We were about to pick one,” Emma said.

“Need help? I have a great eye.” He winked at Nadine.

Oh my God. It washappening.

Emma tried to bite back her smile as she stood up.

“You two go ahead. I’m going to pop to the ladies’,” she announced, and quickly started toward the hallway in the back of the cafe.

She made sure the bathroom door was locked before she turned to the mirror to congratulate herself. Nadine and Zane… it really was perfect! Nadine needed flirting and compliments and mind-blowing sex. She needed a new love interest, and Zane was it.

Emma smiled proudly at her reflection. See, this was yet another example of how wrong Knightley was about her. Setting Nadine up with her hot barista? She was the picture of selflessness.
