CHAPTER 2
Wraith
“Be right back.”
“Cool,” Specter says.
I’m already making my way through the bar, hoping to catch up to the sexy stranger. My mission tonight was a complete fail, but that doesn’t mean I can’t make the best of this evening. I was hoping he’d stay around long enough I could chat with him, but nope. I’m gonna have to chase him. Lucky for me, that’s my specialty.
Outside, I find him crossing the lot towards the back and realize quickly that he’s going to cross the street again to the arena. I’m right on his heels when he spins around, his fists raised, ready to swing.
I put my hands up in surrender, a slight smile on my lips. “Whoa. Settle down, mate.”
“You’re following me?”
He’s right under a lamp, the light shining down and showing off just how gorgeous this man is. He’s got jet-black hair with a slight wave to it, dark eyes, and the most perfect fucking face I’ve ever seen. He’s also built like a brick house. My dick twitches with interest.
“I was, but not for anything bad.”
He glances around again, then lowers his fist. “You want an autograph or something?”
Smiling, I shake my head. “Was hoping to talk to you before you got away.”
“About what?” he growls, his eyes darting back and forth.
Fucking hell, he’s a beauty.
I chuckle. “I was gonna buy you a beer. Maybe get your name. Maybe offer to make you come.”
His brow creases as his mouth falls open. “What?”
“I think you heard me.”
He tilts his head slightly. “Thanks, but no. I’m not… That’s not…” He blows out a breath.
Oh. I see. “I must have read it wrong. I thought you would be interested.”
He swallows hard. “Based on what?”
Should I tell him his interest in me was really damn clear? I caught his gaze more than once and I know what lust looks like. “Just a vibe I got. I’m good at reading people.”
“Hmm. You were wrong. Sorry.”
“No worries.” I back away slowly, waiting for him to stop me. He will. If he really didn’t want me, he’d be gone already. “Nice game.”
“So you know who I am?”
“Not really. I just know which jersey you were in. First hockey game.”
He nods, his eyes darting around again. “If I said yes…?”
Knew it. “Our little secret,” I say, stepping closer again.
He holds my gaze for a moment, then tilts his head in the direction of the arena. Perfect. I have to hide my smile as I shoot off a quick text to Specter, telling him I’ll be a few minutes longer but all is well. Wouldn’t want him coming out here trying to find me.
We cross the street and the hockey player leads me to a dark blue luxury SUV. The doors click and beep as he unlocks them, but I don’t bother getting inside. I don’t need to.
I push him against the vehicle and slide my hand between his legs, grinning when I’m met with a lovely bulge in his expensive slacks. His hand hooks around the back of my neck, slamming our mouths together.
