“I don’t know,” Dash said, notcompletelylying. “Maybe I’m a freak of nature.”

“Stop that,” Emerson spat. “You’re no freak.”

“So why are you making it such a big deal?” Dash barked.

Emerson held up his hands in surrender.“Okay, okay…”He forced a smile. “I didn’t mean to upset you. As long as you’re okay, we’re good. It was just…veryunexpected.”

Dash pulled his gaze away.

Emerson rolled them completely over, pinning Dash to the bed under him. It pushed his cock a little deeper, and they both groaned from the pleasure of it.

“In all honesty, it’s fucking hot,” Emerson said.

His gaze flew back to Emerson’s.

Emerson grinned at him, sliding a hand over Dash’s cheek. “I’ve alwayswantedto do that—but I’ve never been with an alpha who could manage someone of my size.”

“I’m just one in a long line of alphas who’ve made it to your little love nest here. I suppose I should be thankful I’ll stand out in some way.”

Emerson’s grin faded. “Don’t do that.”

“Is it not true?”

“I’ve upset you, so now you’re lashing out,” Emerson said, his voice even and calm when Dash felt nothing close to even and calm.

He was the one people called cold. The one who showed little emotion. Why the fuck couldn’t he control himself now, when he needed that superpower most? “Don’t analyze my behavior like you know me. Because you don?—”

Emerson forced his lips on Dash’s, ending the argument. For a few seconds, at least.

Dash tried to pull away, but the fight left him. He felt too raw to fight. Emerson claimed his mouth, forcing all thoughts of anger and shame from his mind. By the time the alpha let him go, he was once again a pool of liquid need.

“How about neither of us judge the other’s sex life?”

“Not much to judge,” Dash muttered. “On my end, anyway.”

Emerson searched his face for a moment. “There’s nothing to be embarrassed about.”

“Who said I was embarrassed?” Dash quipped.

Emerson sighed. “Do I need to kiss you senselesseverytime your hackles rise? We may never stop kissing.”

“You’rethe one causing them to rise,” Dash growled. “How long before you can get off me?”

“Got somewhere to go?”

Anywhere but here.Dash felt Emerson’s too intense gaze that felt like it saw too much. He needed to get the fuck out of there before he completely lost his shit. Too bad he was literally attached to Emerson.

Being bred.

A shiver raced up his spine, a fantasy achieved.

One they both apparently shared.

Dash cleared his throat.“Howlong?”

Every alpha was a little different, from his limited understanding. Some knotted for minutes, some up to an hour. He sure as fuck hoped it wasn’t that long for them.

“I don’t know,” Emerson replied.
