Jackson laughed. “I didn’t see any of this coming. When you first walked up to me in thatbar, I had all sorts of ideas about what someone like you spent his time doing.”

“Oh, yeah? Give me one of your ideas.”

She squeezed his arm gently, letting her fingers linger on his biceps. “Personal trainer?”

He laughed and shook his head. “Sounds boring as shit.”

“You’re right. You’d definitely do something more exciting.” She tilted her head and smiled. “I also came up witha couple macho sports like wrestling crocodiles.”

He rolled his eyes. “Come on. That’s not a real sport. That’s the worst Australian stereotype out there.”

She waved him off. “No way. I could see tourists paying to watch you wrestle crocodiles. Though you’d have to fake an Australian accent.”

“Would you pay to watch me wrestle crocodiles?”

Jackson tapped her chin. “Hmm...maybe.Would you have a shirt on?”

He laughed. “Would you want me to?”

She rested her head on his chest and he caressed her cheek. He closed his eyes and held her closer.

“Hey, crocodile man,” she whispered.

“Am I supposed to respond to that?”

“Shouldn’t we be working?” she asked.

He sighed and kissed her on the top of her head. “Yep.”

She sat up, shifting out of his embrace,to face him. He rested his arm on the back of the couch again to stop himself from pulling her back against him.

“I’m not here for much longer.” She frowned. “We need to be careful.”

“Careful of what?”

Careful not to get caught or careful not to get too involved? The former he could handle, but the latter? Jackson didn’t answer. Maybe that was a good sign. Cameron let his fingers travelover her shoulder, down her arm. “So tell the board you need more time.”

“To fit in more sex with you?”

Cameron gave a little snort. “You’re supposed to be in PR, sweetheart. If you want them to agree, you’ll have to come up with something better than that.”

She smiled a little. “I can’t lie to the board,” she said.

Cameron sat up. “Lie? It’s not a lie that it would help to haveyou here.”

She shook her head. Shit. He had just stupidly laid down all his cards and suggested she stay. And she wasn’t even considering the idea.

“Never mind,” he grumbled. “Let’s get back to work.”
