“Just try?”

“Fine.”

“Hello!” I called louder. “I asked what the fuck was that?”

“That was me needin’ to go see the Doc,” Cade said with a smile, going to the door. “I got an appointment with him today.”

“Now I know that’s a lie,” I called after him, but he was already heading out the door. “You never go to the doc, anymore than I do!”

I wasn’t surprised Cade didn’t respond and just kept walking, but that didn’t stop me from glaring at his retreating back before the door slid shut. Which meant I had to turn my glare onto the only other person in the room, who just so happened to be involved in whatever the hell those two were muttering about. Isaac stared at me with an expression that gave nothing away.

“Yes?” he asked in a light, almost playful voice.

“What was that?” I asked again, narrowing my eyes even though I had a sneaking suspicion it would take a lot more than that to bring pressure to bear on Isaac. Come to think of it, I hadn’t really seen him stressed, or anything other than his usual, unflappable self. I mean, it wasn’t like we knew a lot about each other, but it wouldn’t have been surprising to see stress or irritation.

“Does it bother you? Knowing something happened right in front of you without being part of it? Is it the unknown, or the lack of control?” he asked, laughing when I scowled. “Maybe he was purchasing my services.”

“You’re retired, remember? And he’s straight.”

“Hmm, true, but money can be a really enticing way to bring someone back to something they thought they’d left behind. And I can admit when I’m wrong. Cade has far more money than I thought. And before you try to repeat your second point, do you know how many ‘straight’ men I had as clients in the past?”

“That’s nothing special. There’s been guys around here who insist they’re straight, and guess what? They end up with my dick in their mouths anyway.”

“Hmm, kind of like...Logan?”

I stared at him. “How the fu…I mean…shit.”

“Too late,” Isaac said softly, coming to stand near where I was sitting. “And that’s easy as pie to figure out. All anyone has to do is watch the way he moves around you. He won’t get too close, but he makes sure he knows where you are whenyou’re around each other. I was guessing something had already happened, but you gave me that information.”

“Cade didn’t hire you to sleep with him,” I said. “And if Logan wants to keep his secret, someone should tell him not to stare at me like a forlorn puppy.”

“True,” Isaac said, his voice soft as he stepped up to me, making my heart thump hard as he leaned in, placing a hand on my shoulder. “He might have hired me for you, though. It’s not like you’ve been shy about showing you’d like some alone time with me. Maybe, just maybe, he’s hoping I can show you a good time without you needing to hunt someone down and seduce them. And with me? Well, I can promise you I was well regarded by returning clients for a lot more than just my good company.”

My eyes were so wide I was worried they were going to fall out as he inched closer, gently lowering himself into my lap. Instinct more than any genuine desire made me reach out and take him by the hips to steady him as I felt his weight on my thighs and groin and stared at him in open shock. His other hand curled around the back of my neck, and his fingers were warm, digging firmly into my skin as he tilted his head. He was still as serene and calm as I was used to seeing him, but now it was heavy, weighty with a desire that made my heart beat furiously in my chest as I tried to wrap my head around his words.

Words weren’t making a whole lot of sense right now, though; my brain cells were too busy firing in every direction except the ones that would help me understand the nuances of what was happening. All I knew was that I had an insanely good-looking man in my lap, one of his hands around the back of my neck and the other slowly sliding down my chest. His whole attention was locked onto me, and I was suddenly helpless as I stared into his eyes, where I could see no hesitation, no doubt, just desire for me and what he was doing. I had neverfelt so helpless in the face of someone else’s desire, and I swallowed hard, not caring that I was acting like a bumbling idiot experiencing his first time being touched.

“All you have to do,” he said softly, and I felt a shiver ricochet through me as his warm breath caressed my neck and ear, “is tell me what you want, or just say yes, and I’ll figure out what makes your toes curl, your eyes roll back, and what makes you say my name like it’s the only salvation you’ll ever need.”

It was...well, everything I’d been trying to get from him from the moment I’d seen him, and a whole lot extra. I was so hard it was a testament to the durability of the clothes the resort gave us if we didn’t want to wear our own that they hadn’t torn from the force of my straining cock. All I had to do was give him the green light, and he would give me everything I wanted and what he was promising. I would be in the hands, and probably other parts, of someone who knew exactly what they were doing, someone who had worked hard to learn just what to do and when to give someone the greatest pleasure of their life, and all I had to do was?—

“No,” I heard myself say, and while I was a little confused who’d said it at first, I felt emboldened by it. Just enough to gently put a hand on his chest, pushing him away. “I-I’m not doing this. You’ve already said you’re retired, and it sounded like you did it for the right reason. So, if Cade really is why you’re doing this, I’m going to beat his ass and still tell you no. Hell, tell me what he offered you and I’ll pay you the same or more not to do this.”

Isaac slunk back, not a trace of unhappiness or rejection on his face as he watched me. “And if I was doing it because I wanted to?”

“That’s...better,” I said, part of me wondering what thefuckwas wrong with me that I was doubling down when he wasright there. “But not good enough. Look, maybe you were right, maybe I surround myself with sex and jokes so people don’t get too close. But to sleep with you after you talked about getting away from that shit, then pointing out that’s probably what’s keeping me from...I don’t know, getting to know people, it just...I can’t. I won’t do that to you, and probably shouldn’t do it to myself either.”

“Ha,” he said softly as he removed himself from my lap and looked around. “Isn’t that interesting. How did it feel?”

“What?” I asked with a wince, leaning forward to hopefully conceal the obvious proof that, despite what I’d said, my body wasveryinterested in what he’d offered. Not that it mattered, he had been on my lap, there was no way he hadn’t felt me pressing against his ass.

“Well, first...doyou want to sleep with me?”

“Huh?”

“Do you want to fuck me? Is that a better way of putting it?”

“No! I-I fucking understood what you were asking,” I told him with an annoyed huff. “I just don’t get why you... I mean, shouldn’t it be obvious?”
