“Willa?”
I looked up into his worried eyes.
“I haven’t said anything to Owen and Tracey about us, and I won’t. I promised you.”
“Thank you.” Guilt plagued me as I thought of how I’d as good as admitted everything to Justin. But if we started talking about my conversation with Justin, we’d be here all night. I didn’t want to stay in front of Alan’s house a minute longer. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Go have fun at your brother’s house.”
It was probably better I turned down Doug’s offer because Alan called a few minutes after I’d pulled out of his neighborhood, and he wanted to get right into planning for the future. I could hear the click of his mouse and the tapping of his keyboard as he talked.
“I’ve been analyzing the social media reactions. I wanted to see what people thought about you and Justin versus you and Doug. Right now, Doug’s winning out. People like an underdog. I want you to draw them both in, keeping up the genuine connection you have with Doug, and continue playing hard-to-get with Justin. Don’t change a thing.”
I’d already changed everything. I was doomed. “Will do. Sounds like a plan.”
