He pulled out his phone. “Yes, it does. Give me a minute.”

He stepped away and called someone. Kori didn’t listen to the conversation. Instead, she continued to study the snow-covered car.

Nothing showed any signs of distress. There was no blood. No broken windows.

She tried the door, but it was locked.

By all appearances, Mackenzie had come here, parked, and set out on her hike.

Alone.

With a snowstorm coming.

What had happened out on that trail? Why had she gone? Who had told her she had to come alone and come now?

Kori prayed this hike today would provide some answers.
