Heat immediately floods my cheeks. “It’s yours obviously.”
He drops his mouth to my ear and purrs, “Darlin’, I don’t need to use magic if I want you in my bed.”
My panties are suddenly soaking wet. “There’s no way I’d go willingly.”
His eyes say,We’ll see about that, but his mouth says, “I need you to help me, Blair.”
“Whatever this curse is—and trust me, it’s a curse—it’ll have to work its way out by itself. I’m not going anywhere with you.”
With that, I turn on my heel and walk back into the ballroom.
The first thing that hits me is the cool air. It washes over my skin like a wave, making goose bumps ripple on my flesh. I shiver off the feeling and then take in the scene.
There are a dozen couples on the dance floor, but the one couple I see, the one that strangles my attention, is Storm Grayson dancing with…Cathy.
Still? What the hell?
She’s smiling at him. He’s smiling at her. Fury boils in my blood right then. Jealous, angry fury.
Cathy glances to her right and spots me. Her lips curl into an evil smile. She’s won. That woman already thinks she’s won.
“If you do this for me…” Devlin’s standing beside me. When did he arrive? He leans down and whispers, his breath floating across my ear and causing me to shudder. “If you do this for me, stay around me, don’t leave my side, then I will…” There’s a very long pause here, as if he’s trying to figure out what to say next. He inhales and finishes. “If you help me, then I will get Storm Grayson to marry you.”
A pulse of excitement zings through my body. I turn my head, and Devlin’s so close our lips are an inch away from touching. He immediately stiffens.
“How can you do that?”
He takes a position behind me, his mouth to my ear. His breath is a wave of electricity rushing over my skin, igniting me from inside and making every cell in my body shudder.
“You can’t use my power on him. I forbid it.”
Devlin chuckles. It’s a husky, seductive sound. “No, I won’t use your power on him. But I’ll help you. Darlin’, by the time these courting weeks are over, Storm Grayson will be begging you to marry him.”
“How can you?—”
“Trust me, okay?”
I shouldn’t trust Devlin. I should run for the hills and not look back. But this is the man who has women dropping their panties for him like they’re on fire. If anyone could get someone wrapped around their little finger, it’s Devlin.
He can help me win Storm’s heart. He can help me secure my family’s magic.
My body is screaming at me not to do it. If Chelsea were here, she’d be telling me to think long and hard about this. Do Ireally want to be near Devlin Ross for weeks on end? Or until our magic switches back?
No, I don’t.
But I sure as hell don’t want Chatty Cathy to steal Storm. I want him all to myself.
I glance over my shoulder and, from the corner of my eye, see that Devlin’s watching me closely.
“Devlin Ross, you have yourself a deal.”

“You have to what?” my mom asks, her blonde curls frizzing around her face as if she just touched an electrical outlet.
To be fair, I have just dropped a bombshell on her.
“Well, um…” Suddenly twisting my fingers into the skirt of my dress seems like the most intriguing thing ever! “Well, something strange happened with my powers, and they got switched with Devlin Ross’s.”
