But I’m not done.
Feylin appears beside me, fist tucked under his head. “Tired?”
I shoot him a skeptical look before pouncing on top of him. He rolls onto his back, laughing.
I nip his nose. “Not tired.”
“I see. Then I’ve got a job for you.” He lifts my hips and slowly eases me onto him. I take his length all at once, and his breath hitches, eyes widening.
I lean down and whisper in his ear, “Looks like I’m full of surprises.”
“You are that, my queen.”
We come together slowly, deliberately. We don’t rush this. We take our time, keeping eye contact and holding one another as we climax together, our bodies shuddering and quaking at the same time.
When we collapse on the bed, moonlight spilling in through the windows and splaying over our bodies, Feylin brushes a strand of hair from my sweat-slicked forehead.
“If this isn’t true love,” he whispers.
Taking his hand, I kiss his knuckles. “Then true love doesn’t exist.”
He pulls me to him, tucking me under his chin. “And I’ve got a golden rose to prove it.”

EPILOGUE
SIX MONTHS LATER
“It’s not done yet,” I tell Feylin.
He rakes his fingers through his dark hair. “How long do these things take? Can’t we use magic to hurry it up?”
His impatience makes me smile. “When you’re finding out if you’re pregnant, wouldn’t you like it to berightrather than quick?”
“No.”
I roll my eyes. “Ten minutes.” I place the stick on the bathroom counter. “You can wait that long, my king.”
He grumbles something unintelligible as I sweep past him. “Come on. Let’s eat supper. I’m sure Ryals is waiting.”
It takes several seconds before Feylin rips his gaze from the stick and follows me down the hall.
“I don’t know why we can’t use magic to make it go faster,” he grumbles.
“For someone who has a lot of patience, you really don’t have any.”
“I’m full of patience,” he argues. “Just not when it comes to this.”
“Noted.”
I take his hand and beam up at him. His tight jaw slackens as he smiles back. “I’m just nervous.”
“I gathered that.” I hug his arm. “There’s nothing to be nervous about.”
“We’re only talking about guiding a new life.”
“You’re going to be a great father.”
