I stared at it in confusion. He’d found one too? I shook my head in disbelief.
“I didn’t. Moth?—”
“Liar!” He leapt up and went to the doors, shutting them loudly and spinning back around to me. “I looked you up before the storm hit and we lost power. How’d you do it, Priest?”
I stood, my fists clenched at my sides, ready to finish what was started years ago. He snickered and sauntered closer. “Seriously. Cunningham’s is tight. Even I couldn’t get out early. How the fuck did you escape and not get caught?”
I wasn’t going to indulge him. That was none of his fucking business. “You showed your hand too soon. I can’t let you leave now. Be careful who you tell, or I’ll have to kill them too.”
He laughed. “You think you scare me?” Moth came closer and grabbed my shoulder, squeezing painfully. “That shit might have worked in the psych ward, but not here. You’ve got shit fucked up, Priest Duvall. We’re not trapped here with you. You’re all trapped in here with me.”
I shoved him back, and he cackled. It made me cringe, remembering that same laugh from when we were together at Cunningham’s. I hated him every second he was there and was so glad when he was released.
“Six months!” He clapped. “I’m genuinely impressed. And you kept your name and everything. Come on, I need to know how you did it. When they find your body after the storm passes, they’ll want to interview me. I can see it now, man saves entire hotel from crazed murderer, escaped from asylum.”
“You think you can kill me?”
“I don’tthinkanything.” He shrugged. “I would have let itgo if you hadn’t pulled that little prank. “You weren’t the only one who could get whatever he wanted from those hot little nurses. I read your file too. They couldn’t prove it, but your folks were so sure it was you that butchered that guy, they bypassed everything and got a judge to sign off on your sentence quietly, to avoid a trial. You got to leave that little town of yours quietly, with no media to know what you did, but they knew. Everyone knew, and they were embarrassed.”
I grabbed my bag. If Laney wasn’t here, I didn’t need to be either.“I didn’t do the mask. I don’t know where that came from,” I said and strode to the door. I wasn’t lying, but now I was curious to see if the one I’d found was still in my room. Had someone taken it and put it in his?
“Really? It’s an odd coincidence, don’t you think? The guy your parents thought you murdered was killed by someone in the same mask. You don’t think that’s weird that me being the only one who could reveal your secret and send you back was given this in his room?” He went to it, picking it up and shaking it wildly like a real head. He tossed it at my feet.
“I don’t know what you’re trying to accomplish.”
He put his hands on his hips and bobbed his head.“The only goal for this trip is fucking your little piece. Delaney Duvall. Your little sister. I knew you were twisted, but that’s a whole new level of depraved.” He chuckled. “I may be a killer, but at least I don’t fuck my family.”
He came over, picking up the mask. He slid it on and stared at me with his disgusting green eyes through the slits. “I spent a full year at Cunningham’s being tortured by you. Now it’s your turn.” His voice was muffled through the mask. “Darling Delaney doesn’t know what’s in store for her this week. She wants to lose her seal, I can do that, but I’m not going to be nice about it.”
I shoved him back but he only laughed as he caught himself.
“Jealous, Priest? I’m going to make that little girl scream. She’s going to sob as I shove my cock into her dry, forcing her to tear and stretch.”
Moth swung at me, his fist colliding with my jaw. I swung back, catching his shoulder.
“I’m going to take my cock, bloody from ripping her innocence, and shove it into her mouth. I’m going to force her to take me in every single one of her holes until she goes unconscious, and then I’ll still keep going.”
I caught the back of his calf and hooked his leg, dropping him to the ground. I lunged for him. I threw punch after punch, directly at his face, and all the while, he laughed.I was transported back in time, back to the asylum, where we’d go back and forth weekly, beating the shit out of each other, just for looking at the other wrong.
I grabbed his shoulders and lifted him so I could smash his head onto the floor. He grinned as his eyes glazed over. He was too far gone. He called me a psychopath, but he was worse than I could ever be.
“I’m going to make sure you never look at her the same way again. I’m going to make more than just her tight little cunt bleed.”
I froze, which gave him the chance to roll us and he got in a punch. He raised his arm, and I knew his fist was aiming for my nose. I turned my head, and as his arm swung down, the door opened, and Tristan strode in.
“Woah, hold on now. What’s going on?”
Moth shot up, brushing himself off. “I think someone is just a bit jealous of the attention my presence has on his suitemate.”
“Is this so? Priest, this retreat is meant to be calming andpleasurable. Not some alpha show. While I do welcome you to join us, please be respectful of my guests.”
I got up and snatched my laptop bag off the floor. “Got it. I’ll go find something else to do.”I rushed out of the room and jumped slightly when I turned and saw Carson lurking against the wall.
“Things not going as you planned?” My childhood friend smirked.
“Don’t you have a fire to poke or something? It’s pretty cold in here.” I started down the hallway.
“There’s not much we can do at this time. Still getting into fights over Delaney, I see.”
