Follow your final girl’s lead, and you’ll be rewarded.

“There’s no fucking way. What evidence do they have for his arrest?”

I sipped my tea and stared across at Eisley, who was shivering and looking over her shoulder as if someone would burst in. I wasn’t sure why though. According to her, the bad guy was already locked up.

“None that I know of.” She shook her head. “It was kind of a mess, the whole night. We were having a party at Therese’s, and we’d all done a little bit of mushrooms. Then someone broke in and we ran. I guess he managed to catch Soleil and…”

“What about you, where were you?”

Eisley looked down at her cup. “I don’t know. I was too high. All I remember is stumbling out of the woods and Emi running over to me.”

I knew her better than she knew herself. She was lying.

“When did they arrest Constantine?”

“Shortly after everyone was rounded up. Everyone looked like hell. Dirty, ripped clothing, scrapes, and bruises.” She raised her arms and showed me purple spots on her arms. She had some around her neck too, but didn’t mention them.

“He looked just like everyone else. We all went back inside and were laughing about how crazy the night was and then Micah went to grab something from his car and he started screaming. He found Soleil.”

“And she was stabbed?”

She nodded. “Just like Spencer and the high schoolers. We called the police and told them everything. Everyone was hysterical and then someone let it slip about us doing the shrooms and the cops lost their shit. They wanted to know who supplied us, and when no one came forward, they took Constantine.”

“They can’t just take him.” I shook my head. The cops in this fucking town were useless.

“I know that, but what can we do?” She sighed. “Kansas, he needs our help.”

“And you brought me here… to get him out.”I pushed my glasses up my nose.

She flinched. “Do you hate me?”

“For fucking him first? A little. For calling me to help him? Nah. I think we can both say we owe him one.”

“First?”

Heat flooded my face as I realized what I’d implied. “Sorry. Let’s just—I’m tired. I’ve been driving all day,” I lied. “Let’s go to bed, and in the morning, we’ll go get him out.”I finished my tea and grabbed my bag by the door, fleeing to the safety of the guest room.

The next morning, I slid downstairs, still slightly embarrassed, but determined to move on. Eisley sat on the couch, shaking her head.

“Well, he wasn’t arrested for murder, but now they are holding him because they think it was him who supplied the mushrooms.”

“Do they have any proof?”

“I’m not entirely sure. I called Emi and she was kind of shitty about it. I asked her why Micah didn’t fess up, considering someone else is sitting in jail for possession, and she hung up on me.”

I stood, trying to figure out how the fuck Shelley Vale even ran when the doorbell rang. I went to it, and something large and wet was thrust into my arms. A bouquet.

I took them back to the living room and set them down right next to an almost identical one.Eisley looked up and swore.

“Someone is fucking with me. See, this is why I wanted you here.”

“Because they sent you flowers?”

She stood and started rummaging through the bouquet. “No, because it’s the same exact bouquet. They sent one when Spencer died, and now another one for Soleil. It’s like…”

“A gift?” I snickered.

“God, this is so fucked up,” she groaned.
