"Nothing."

He leaned in closer, his breath hot on my cold skin.

"You know what you should do?" he asked. A flash of lightning lit up the room and I saw his eyes dilate through the black fabric of the mask. It was absolutely terrifying. He stared down at me, his prey, his next victim. I shook my head, and he laughed. "Run."

Rule 71 - Constantine

Prepare for rain.

She screamed and shoved me back. Caught off guard, I stumbled back, falling onto her bed. Eisley rushed past me and flew down the stairs. Loud thumps on the hardwood floor came as she ran through the house, taking off out the front door.I sighed, slid the knife back into my boot, and started after her.

“Eisley!”As I stalked through her house, I noticed she hadn’t taken her shoes or a coat, but her keys were gone. Jesus, there was no way she was going to attempt to drive in the fucking rain.I glanced out the front window and watched as she climbed into her car.

I stormed down the porch. She’d turned the car on but hadn’t moved. She knew as well as I did that it was far too dangerous to drive in these conditions. I crept over to my car that was parked beside hers. She was looking blankly ahead as if trying to figure out a plan.

She didn’t have one. Running out into the middle of a fucking thunderstorm with no shoes and a flimsy sheer nightgown told me that.I slammed my hands against her window, and she screamed. She threw her car into reverse and whipped out of her driveway.

Fuck.

I ran to my car and pulled out as fast, trailing behind her. What the fuck was she thinking? The rain was so heavy, it dropped like bullets onto the roof of my car, making it hard for me to think. Where was she going? The police?

I sped around her and cut her off. She dodged me by turning sharply down another road, and I realized then that I could easily get her where I wanted her if I paid attention to the road signs.I followed her, cutting her off again and again, until finally, we were near the woods that led to the Church.Bingo.It was perfect timing as the rain was getting even harder. I drifted directly in front of her. She slammed on the brakes, and finally, turned her car off.We jumped out of our cars.

“I spent five years trapped, but I got out. I survived. I’m free and I’m going to go out that way.” She clenched her fists and glared at me through the freezing rain.I raised my eyebrows as she sneakily shoved her keys through her fingers, creating brass-knuckles. I’d love to see her try. I stepped forward, ignoring the cold shiver passing through my bones.

"Eisley, little Eisley, you can't run from me."

She turned away, putting her hand over her forehead to see better. Bad mistake. I caught her throat, pulling her back toward my chest.

She gasped but didn’t struggle. She was breathing heavily, but not from fear. Her ass pushed against my raging erection, her hands shoving me away, but only hard enough to say she fought.

I ran my hand over her body, tugging the soaked nightgown up and then abandoning it in favor of her breast. I squeezed until she cried out in pain.

"You are mine," I growled into her neck. "You're not going anywhere."

"I wasn't!"

"What was the bag for then?" Where would she go without telling me? Without telling Kansas? When I saw the bag, I went into panic mode and pulled out my knife. I’d only intended to scare her, but the gleam in her eyes, the excitement I saw underneath the fear as I slid the mask on and pushed her to the wall, it turned me on too.

“Drop the keys.” My hand cupping her breast slid down, running along the fabric covering her cunt. I followed the line teasing her as I pressed against her clit. “Now,” I growled.

“Why? Are you afraid I’ll hurt you?” she asked.

“Oh no, it’s not you I’m afraid of.” I brought my hand to her throat and squeezed. “Drop them.”Her fist opened, and they clunked to the ground.

“I know what you did,” she said when I let go of her throat. She stumbled forward, her bare feet scraping the pavement. Her entire body shook from the cold, and I fought the urge to cover her. "To Spencer and Soleil."

I blinked and cocked my head. Oh really? I don’t think she did. A slow smile curled my lips upward. Despite the darkness engulfing us, I could see her eyes, shining bright and hard. They were challenging me.

That was a bad idea.

Keeping eye contact, I bent down and pulled up my drenched jeans, sliding the knife out of its sheath. Her eyes widened. Did she not expect me to react to the harsh accusations?

"What are you going to do then?" I grinned. "Turn me in? Let them lock me away?" I stepped forward, and she stepped back. "You know all too well what it's like being trapped Eisley, and you want to do that to me?"

My eyes flicked to the woods behind her. The more I moved forward, the more she fell into the trees. Her feet touched dirt, and she jumped.

"It's better than being killed myself."
