“Constantine, no!”He wasn’t listening. He leapt into his car and peeled back out of my drive before I could stop him.

Oh no.

Rule 66 - Eisley

Don’t trust anyone.

Ipulled my phone out and tried to call Constantine, but he wasn’t answering. I called again, and again, but still, he ignored me.

Desperate, I called Kansas, and like always, he was the only one who showed up when I needed it.

“Hey, everything okay?” he asked.

“No. I don’t know. Constantine just lost his shit and I’m worried he’s going to get arrested or something.”He didn’t say anything.“I’m just freaking out right now!” I screeched.

“Woah, alright. I’ll be over in a bit. Stay calm. Everything’s going to be fine.”He hung up and I broke down on the couch. This was all so fucked up! Nine people were dead, and the killer was letting me know each time he killed someone else. My friends were blocking me out of their lives, and Constantine had run off to defend my honor. Everything seemed to be falling apart around me and there was nothing I could do about it.

A knock on the door came during my deep sobbing and I went to it, throwing my arms around Kansas when I found him on the other side.

“Shh.” He patted my back. “It’s going to be okay. What’s with the mess on your lawn?”

For the first time today, I relaxed and let out a dry laugh.

“It’s been such a fucked up day.”

Kansas bent down and lifted me into his arms. Cradling me, he took me to the couch and set me down. “Okay, tell me everything.”

“I think someone is fucking with me,” I confessed. Through tears, I told Kansas everything. How each bouquet had come after someone died, how the newspapers were reporting the documentary crew deaths, and how my friends were acting.

“So-called friends. Eisley, none of them were your real friends. Emi’s emails told me that. And as far as the doc crew…” He swallowed deeply and shifted in his seat. “I don’t know.”

“It’s like going back in fucking time. Something’s not right, Kansas. Someone is trying to take out everyone who might reveal the truth.”Kansas shook his head.

“Why would they kill the kids of those people and not the people themselves?”

“To send a message?” I didn’t know the answer. All I knew is that it felt like the walls were closing in on me, and I was a sitting duck.

“My cameras are broken. The ones Spencer set up,” I said. “They were working just fine yesterday, when you showed me the video of Therese destroying my kitchen. She stole—” I stopped short.

“She stole something?”

I looked away quickly. “My sense of security. I don’t feel safe here. It’s like I’m always being watched.”

“Why are you lying to me?” He narrowed his gaze. His glasses slid down his nose and he didn't move to raise them back up.

“What?” I couldn’t meet his gaze.

“Why are you protecting her?” His voice deepened and it took on a threatening growl.“Tell me what she took.”

“Some of my plants from my garden,” I admitted.

“The poison plants?”

I nodded.

“Well, be careful who you drink from.” He sat back, his lips curling into a smirk.

“That’s not funny.”
