I snickered. “They have us on separate buses now?”

“It’s a three-day bus ride. It’s required. These busses have special windows to keep the sun out and supply you with blood during your trip.”

“Let me guess, it costs more than a human bus?”

“You are correct.” He nodded. “Do you still want to ride?”

I gulped, considering my options. They were minimal and getting smaller by the minute. Finally, I snatched my backpack off my shoulder and got my wallet out. “Yeah, I’ll take the ticket.”

“Phone number?”

“What?” I blinked. “I don’t have one,” I said quickly. I swallowed the knot in my throat. I had left it in my room on purpose.

The man in the booth gave me a confused look but sighed and typed something into his computer. “You’ll need a printed ticket then.”

I paid and turned to find somewhere to sit while I waited. Ticket in hand, I shrugged my bag back on my shoulders and went to thecomfies-looking seat. Which was basically the seat with the least amount of cracks in the fake red leather.

I glanced at the clock on the wall, then the ticket in my hand. Four hours.

I blew air out of my mouth and turned my attention to the TV attached to the wall. It played a sitcom from twenty years ago at a very low volume with subtitles on. I was never a big TV person.

I prefer movies.

Thoughts of Desi and I at work flashed in my mind, and I quickly shoved them away in favor of the couple on the screen arguing over who got them into the easily fixable mess.

I wasn’t entirely sure how long I sat there, staring at the television. I only looked away when someone came to sit next to me. I turned to see a strikingly beautiful Bloodborn woman smiling at me. I stared stupidly at her in confusion as she kept grinning.

“Scout. What an interesting name. That was what I said when I first heard about you.”

“Yeah? When was that?” I crossed my arms under my chest but didn’t relax.

“Word travels fast throughout my family. You’ve basically had an amber alert on you for days now. I’m glad I found you first.”

It struck me then. She was a Sin. She was the only one I hadn’t met yet.

Gluttony.

Gluttony was gorgeous, which kind of threw me for a loop. While I had never seen an unattractive vampire, I still expected her to be. Dante and Arsenio both had facial hair, a rare sight in the blood world. And Desi, while he did have an anger issue, was the sweetest vampire I knew. An ugly vampire could happen too. But no, she was extremely pretty, even by our standards.

My mouth fell open, and I struggled to find words. She laughed lightly and reached a thin, gloved hand to brush a large lock of shiny auburn hair behind her pale ear. Her red lips turned upward as her fangs flashed.

Everything about her looked perfectly made. She was dressed in a slick pencil skirt and a white blouse that went up to her chin. Her red eyes were almost hidden underneath her thick eyelashes and perfectly executed makeup.

“Where are you going?” She spoke, causing me to blink and look away almost bashfully.

I licked my lips and pressed them tightly together. Desi’s warnings about never trusting any of his fellow Seven Sins members came to mind.

I’m not telling you shit.

She sighed. “I know what they did to you. I want to help.”

I smirked. “How do you plan on doing that?”

“Toss the ticket and come with me.”

I cocked an eyebrow. “What makes you think I’m stupid enough to do that?”

Her big warm eyes suddenly turned into icy slits. “I can keep you safe. I’m the only Sin that Desi won’t come near.”
