“I do need to get my hair done.”

Cleo squealed and rested her hand on her bump.

“Thank you. Now go get dressed to go,” she demanded.

Heading back to my bedroom I tried to sneak a peek at the room next door, but Adrian and Chase were still inside. When I went to open the door Adrian caught it, peaked his face out and then shook his head.

“No can do,” he said, shutting the door in my face.

I called my beautician once I was in my room and got my appointment scheduled for an hour from now. To save time Mark hopped in on my shower. Once we were out, I saw how much time we had, so I rushed him to get dressed and I threw on only a little mascara.

“You still look gorgeous,” he commented as I frowned at my roots in the tiny visor mirror in his car.

I told him he didn’t have to wait for me, but he insisted he’d stay while she touched up my roots and freshened the color. He went through the magazines and they changed the TV in the corner to a sitcom for him.

Walking out of the salon I felt refreshed and more like myself again. We stopped for lunch at a small cafe. “What would you like to drink?” The waitress asked us.

“Coffee.” We answered at the same time. We locked eyes and burst into laughter. She giggled and when she returned with our cups she sighed.

“You two are so adorable,” she commented as she poured our drinks.

We took a walk after lunch, not going anywhere particular, just enjoying each other's company. Finally, he decided to call Cleo and ask if we could come home. I couldn’t hear her on the other line, but Mark didn’t look too happy. He hung up and looked at me, giving me an uneasy smile.

“You up for a movie?”

We finished up our day out with a nice, intimate dinner at a taco truck.

“You know we rarely have dinner with just the two of us?” He chuckled, putting his paper tray in the trash.

“We should do this more often,” I said, finishing up my own food. He reached for my hand and we walked back to our car.

“They’ve had enough time,” he decided.

When we got home, we were greeted not only by his three bandmates, but their spouses and children. We stepped into the house just as they were coming down the stairs from the baby’s room.

“Hey! We are actually heading out now. We’ll be back tomorrow,” she said before they all left.

Naturally the curiosity got the best of me and as soon as they left, I rushed upstairs only to find that someone had installed a padlock on the door. “Mark!” I protested, but when he saw the lock he started laughing.

“She knows you too well,” he said. The rest of the week Mark’s bandmates were here bright and early.

“Shouldn’t you guys be practicing or something?” I asked after the fourth day, but they all agreed that they were enjoying the break.

“We’re running out of things to do,” I protested.

“Why don’t you go to the beach?” Adrian suggested.

“Or check out a museum,” Derek added. Sighing, I took Mark by the hand and we left to go wander the city.Despite hating not being in the loop, I loved having Mark all to myself for just a little bit. It was almost like a small, second honeymoon.

We hadn’t had much time like this since our first year of marriage. Back then the band was on hiatus. Cleo was in Michigan while the others were here, so they couldn’t really do much. Once she decided to move out here, the band returned to their formal glory full force and this had been my life ever since. Small moments in between band stuff.

I didn’t mind usually. They treated me like family and I always had fun when they were around, but it was nice to have these moments too. I realized while we were taking a celebrity homes tour that this was probably the last moments we would have with just the two of us for the next eighteen years.

“You realize that, right? From now on even when the band isn’t around, we’ll never be alone. They’ll be an extra member to tag along,” I commented, looking out at some late-night talk show hosts grand mansion.

“I know, isn’t that awesome. I can’t wait,” he told me.

“We need to cherish these moments while they’re here.”
