I chuckled. “Okay, maybe next time we’ll let you do it.”

“Can I get a baby like the girls in my class have Mom?” She pleaded with Cleo. Cleo frowned.

“Why don’t you wait and ask your daddy? Maybe for your birthday,” she offered and then shushed her so we can start the next movie. This one wasn’t as entertaining as the first one, and we all eventually grew bored. Jimmy declared her boredom halfway through, so I started trying to think of things we could do.

“We could make brownies, do makeovers, or maybe prank phone calls,” I said, wiggling my eyebrows.

“What is a prank phone call?” She asked excitedly. I giggled and reached for my phone and dialed *67 to hide my number, then dialed Mark’s cell number. I whispered to them who I called while it was ringing. I pushed the button to put it on speaker, so they could hear. Jimmy started giggling and Cleo was trying to conceal her own smile with a pillow over half her face. He answered after the fourth ring.

“Hello?”

I lowered my voice as low as it could go. “Hello, is Mr. Wall there?”

“Uh, no? Who is this?” He demanded.

“Well is there a Mrs.Wall? Or maybe another Wall?” I insisted. We heard Derek in the background complain about hanging up the phone.

“Dude come on, unpause the game.”

“There are no Walls here!” Mark snarled and I drove the joke home.

“Then how does your roof stay up?” I shouted and quickly hung up. The three of us erupted into giggles and fell over holding onto our guts. We heard Mark swear from downstairs which only made us laugh harder.

“I want to try!” Jimmy exclaimed. I looked over at her mom who nodded her approval.

“Who should we call?” I asked. Cleo burst into laughter again and when she could breathe, she spoke.

“Derek.”

Perfect. I dialed the number, pushed the speaker button, then handed the phone to the little girl who was bouncing with excitement. It took him a moment before he answered.

“Yo,” he said smoothly. Jimmy’s eyes went wide with panic. I motioned with my hand for her to speak. She gulped and then asked if Mr. Wall was there.

“What? No! What is with the Walls? There are no Walls here!” He shouted so loud we could hear it from the phone and downstairs.

“Well then how does the roof stay up?” Jimmy squealed and started laughing before she hung up. A moment later we heard pounding on the stairs. They were coming up. We all looked at each other in panic. I leapt off the bed and put my body against the door. It jostled and then there was a deep sigh. I recognized my husband’s voice.

“Girls only. What’s the password?” I asked innocently. Looking back at the two Andrews’ girls, they looked like they were having a blast. I realized that this sleepover was a first for both of them. There was a pause and then Mark responded.

“Is it wall?” The three of us on this side giggled and I pulled away from the door to open it a crack and peek out.

“Yes?” I looked at him blankly. Him and Derek stood there, arms crossed, not amused.

“Having fun in there?”

I nodded and winked at him. He softened and rolled his eyes.

“Can’t you do some other sleepover activity? Maybe some makeovers or make some brownies or something?” He suggested.

“Pillow fights!” Derek added excitedly. Mark turned and shot a glare at him.

“Dude, that’s my wife.”

Derek apologized.

“I could go for some brownies,” he tagged on. I turned to look at my girlfriends. Jimmy hopped off the bed and reached for her mom’s arm.

“Alright, we’ll stop. Now go away!” I said again and shut the door quickly. Turning back to the girls I suggested we all get into our pajamas.
